I think this is a great addition to our team if we don’t need the scholarship for some other player. KIrby has bragged many times about Cole’s work ethic, leadership and dedication to the program. He won’t contribute a ton in the WR room, but he’s a great player on special teams where experience is so important. His blocked punt in the SEC CG is an example of the type of impact he can have even if he doesn’t have gaudy stats as a receiver. Ğo Dawgs and welcome back Cole!!!

This is concerning. CKS doesn’t add players - especially those with only 1 year of eligibility- unless he believes they can contribute immediately. Between this information and the recent chatter coming out practice/scrimmage makes me think CKS/staff is not happy what we have.

With 5 receptions in 4 seasons it is not likely that Speer will be a factor at WR. IF he is then UGA has missed on a lot of recruits and transfers.
Where he will help the team is on special teams. Seems like CKS had an extra spot and threw Speer a bone for an extra year.
I don't if true but I'm seeing that Drew Bobo has a new injury to a finger, and that surgery was involved. Maybe someone can confirm, or not.

This is a huge addition on special teams! A bonus is the fact we get one more experienced veteran added to the receiver room, which if nothing else is incredible news for the locker room.
Kirby is absolutely awesome at using the roster to maximum limitations.
I'm happy for the young man but what did we gain other than his respect and appreciation for another year and some zNIL?
Good question, you gain a guy on special teams that ran a 4.25 40YD in the 2026 NFL Combine!
Cole will be a positive addison to Special Teams but MORE importantly….an example for all who have NFL asspirations…you got to give 100 plus % every opportunity you are given….in practice, on game day, during the game and after each game…that's leadership and The Dawgs can use all we can get!!!
I hope he gets a receiving TD this season. And early in the season. Maybe he takes a major step, who knows? Use his speed once in a while on a jet sweep or however.
Regardless, this is a good thing for the team, even if he does not catch a pass.
We'll see if Speer actually joins. That would be another target for Gunner. Sounds like there might be other players who could be eligible to come back like JaCorey Thomas.
