Well, we have heard this story before. Wait till November when the oil schools get serious.
How much can you bet for this kid "committing" somewhere else than UGA by signing day? Asking for a friend.
Serious question, who was the last kid with these recruiting rankings to commit this early and remain committed through signing day? Or better, what is the percentage of 5 star qb recruits who do it? I'd feel better if he was a lineman or LB, they tend to stick their words more than . This is not knocking the kids, it's the idiots throwing out generational wealth at a 17 yo kid and a governing body without any enforcement powers.
Obviously, the "modern era" of NIL deals and such gets a bad rep, but the truth is that things are just… different. It's easy to focus on the negatives and point out who you lost and forget about all of those that you gain.
When it comes to QBs, the reality is that no 5-star QB stays with who they commit to. Period. This is true across the board and if you were to dig into the stats, it would absolute horrify you and wonder "what the point" is. Honestly, I agree.
I personally wouldn't recommend that UGA even bother with top QB recruits unless they are die hard UGA fans and grew up in Georgia. Our history shows that it's not going to work out well. Our best QBs are not the ones who get drafted in the First Round (Stafford is the exception). Our best QBs are the 4-stars and sometimes lower. People like Beck who most of us wanted him to transfer after his **** freshman year. Bennett. Stockton and Vandergriff are the typical players we want to secure. Stockton was considered the 7th best QB in his class. Fromm: 4 star. The big names aren't worth the effort and the cost.
