Georgia looked good against Tennessee State, but some questions about the Bulldogs remain.

Gunner needs to hit some deep balls. Needs to show some touch. Needs to really bad. Teams have circled this weakness.
The rest doesn't matter. Tenn Tech isn't Oklahoma. Last Sat game was like a tuneup at clark central high school.
Another tune-up game, which is fine and good in its own way, but I was thinking Western KY was a better football team than what they have shown so far. Hmmm….oh well, all we can do is play the games in front of us, try to get better, get more guys game reps, and most importantly, AVOID injuries!
And yes, it would be nice to see Gunner air at least a few balls out way downfield…
My question.... GS misses a wide open Craig Dangerous for TD on opening drive and forces an incomplete pass to a covered Cannion which could have been an interception. He had all day on this play. Hopefully this year he will begin to see his open receivers better. He still did a great job overall
It was the first game of the season against an inferior opponent. I didn’t think Bobo would open the playbook much. GS was 15 of 17. One pass Cannion should have caught that would have made it 16 of 17. He had no INTs. No fumbled snaps. Threw for 202 yds. in just a smidgen over a qtr.
GS passes were crisp and on target. No tucking the ball and taking off. So for now I’m not that concerned about GS. My focus is on Who takes over should GS get seriously injured ? Proud of the starting O Line though it was an inferior opponent they did a very good job.
RBs looked pretty good but again vs. an inferior foe. For Now I think the Dawgs are right where they should be. Everybody including GS just needs to keep chopping and getting better. Take one game at a time. Stay focused and stay intense. Go Dawgs !!
I think an addition to Nr 1 might be can the OL hold on long enough for him to throw the long one
As far as nr 3 if you can't get the boys fired up at game time for every game, then we need some serious interpsection by coaches and players
To be honest and objective based strictly on poise and performance rather than class ranking, the pecking order should be Stockton/Millender Co-#1, Montgomery #2, and Puglisi/Beaver Co-# 3
So you're saying you know more about it than Kirby & Company?
Any evidence that Kirby doesn't play (and rank players) based on how likely they are to contribute to winning the game?
Go, Dawgs!
Love Kirby - best coach in the nation - and yes when it comes to everything football he is unmatched…but I can't deny what my eyeballs tell me and sometimes the bewilderment of who plays QB and who does not play QB - Justin Fields could possibly weigh in on this…and Stetson did have to plead his case a bit? Again, I have nothing against Kirby - he is THE MAN!
Gunner's numbers were good Saturday. Had a lot of ding and dunk throws. Guess we will see about the deep ball. As far as getting the ball down field Montgomery had a nice in stride pass for a TD.
Puglisi started off slowly but got into a rhythm in the second half.
Millender only had one pass so didn't get to see much there.
THe harpp-on all offseason was on can GS be more explosive in the passing game and throw it downfield? OR am I misremembering? WHat we saw Saturday was more short throws where on a couple of them they missed some tackles and it turned into longer plays. Even the network crew though pointed out on the throw to Canion that I believe was his only incompletion he had , there were 2 other receivers open who could have waltzed into the endzone. THere were also a couple of more throws that were completed but deeper routes were open. In the past it was GS didn't have time to survey the field and get to his deepr reads, that wasn't the case Saturday.
Please don't take this as I'm down on GS, because I'm not , I just want what Kirby has been saying to come to fruition. This was a good win but I just know that in order for us to make it deep into the playoffs that part of his game has got to improve.
I saw Chambliss throwing bombs perfectly on point for TD's against much tougher competition than what we had. LSU and Fla, have upgraded at the QB position. The competition will be stiffer this season. Go Dawgs!
All I can say is that there is a Reason Gunner is the starting QB. Cannion missed one throw right on his hands or Gunner would have been 16 of 17. I Know they were a grossly inferior opponent. But No INTs. No fumble of snaps. And he didn’t tuck the ball and run. His passes were crisp and accurate. And he made several passes over the middle.
Maybe the down field passes will come as the season progresses. Of course you Do realize those down field passes come with higher risks of INTs Regardless who the QB is ?? Golden Boy Manning threw 7 INTs last year. He threw 1 in TX opening game this weekend. Yeah he threw for more yds. than Gunner But he was on the field longer and had much more snaps.
Gunner threw for 202 yds. in a Qtr. and a smidge. Again I realize this was a grossly inferior team though. Kirby says Gunner has improved I’m not gonna say he’s lying. Speaking Only for me Gunner gets allot of grief about last year. But he went 12-2 with an SEC Crown. 34 points Should have been enough to beat Ole Miss in the play off game. So was that All on Gunner or did the Defense have some responsibility by letting Ole Miss score 39 points ? They beat us by 5 points not exactly a slaughter.
Verses Notre Dame in the previous year GS was as green as grass. Was a Huge up hill climb to beat ND. He Did help us beat TX ( again) in the SECCG. Speaking Only For Me I don’t care if he only throws One Yard passes as long as the Dawgs get the Most Important Stat of all and that is the W !! What if we were winning predominately by Running the ball would it matter so much how deep GS throws passes ??
If I read right he Did have Two passes from the LOS that went well over 20 yds. And quite a few well over 15 yds. Lastly he wasn’t in long enough to even break a decent sweat in that scorching heat !! He’ll get better. He’ll make those long passes folks are coveting. But be warned and whether it’s GS or Any QB the aggressive down field passes Come With Risks !! Risk vs. Reward !! Just Hope more TDs than INTs !! Go Dawgs !!
@reddawg1 Meant to say you Did make very valid points. In my view GS did quite well as a first year starter last year. If he’s improved much at all Dawgs should be able to climb higher this year. GS has allot of nice targets to throw to for sure !! Keep using those monster TE’s !!
To me though verses a grossly inferior opponent our RBs looked good !! All of them !! Most important of all I really liked the starting O Line !! Even when they subbed into the O Line they Still looked good !! These things will be of big help to Gunner !!
I Believe in him and one thing I know he Will give every effort his body, mind, and soul can give !! He wants to Win as much as anyone !! He’s a Warrior !!
