These first two games have been glorified scrimmages. My biggest concern is Stockton who has thrown very few if any long passes. Can he do it? Hope so but not sure yet. If he can’t, we will not be as successful as we expect this uear. Our b MUST be able to connect on multiple 20+ yard passes as the game necessitates and to keep the opposing defense from stuffing the box. Time will tell.
All I can say is better hope he doesn’t get injured. As playing against these inferior opponents the backup QBs have shown very little. The lone exception being a excellent pass from Ryan Montgomery in the first game vs. TN St. The backup players on both sides of the ball haven’t shown much. There are exceptions like the RBs looking at least decent. The Starters on both sides of the ball look great !! We won’t know for sure until we play some Real competition but Gunner looks improved to me.
Impressed with what I’ve seen from Nick Peal as a freshman running back. He looks to have separated himself from the other young backs in the room. And he held onto the ball today.
Agree !! Peal looked very good !! Walker looks pretty good to. Dawgs have a very solid RB room !
I thought Gunner had 3 TD passes in game 1 and then 5 in game 2. I swear I thought 3+5=8, but the first sentence says he had 7. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Go Dawgs and I’m really pleased with how we are playing albeit against weaker opponent.
@navydawg Hey Navy. Agree with you on how important Gunner seems to be. The Backups looked pretty impotent yesterday. Coaches need to decide who really is number two and get him up to speed with mire work in practice and more game reps.
