Woodring Secret Agent Man !!
That oline is still mostly trash. They find a nut now and then. But mostly, constantly getting run right by.
I will say, and yeah, it’s picky but, I’d like to get other receivers and Tight Ends involved in the passing game. Stockton to Talyn Taylor is looking a lot like Stockton to Branch. I watch when Gunner steps back and he only seems to have eyes for Taylor. I don’t see any scanning of the field.
The first couple of games he spread the wealth but that seems to have cooled. As I said, it is picky but it may be needed in coming games.
Maybe so. But in a game like this where we’re way ahead. We Need to develop a True deep threat WR. Branch was that because he had the most YAC of any of our receivers
Pugs in at QB
Great. 2nd team offense, to go 3 and out to put the 2nd team defense back out there to score another td.
And venables calls a timeout. Classic.
Kirby should take exception to that. Trash pass by pugs to stop the clock and to punt
Kirby is hot, Pugs didn't throw to the underneath guy who was open.
Branch had all the YAC because he was basically the only one getting g the throws. I’m sorry, but I want our TEs involved and I want high percentage passes rather than endless “wings and a prayer”. We need to work on the total passing game, not solely the long ball. You have an opportunity to practice one, you have the opportunity to practice the other.
Dawgs definitely have a Very, Very legit Defense. To Me Gunner has improved some. He doesn’t tuck the ball and run when no one’s home. He scans better. He Can throw a bomb. CMB still lets his foot off the gas and plays not to loose when the Dawgs get a lead. Which I believe hurts Gunners success.
We have a great weapon in Woodring. Our young OLine is going through growing pains. They Will get better each game played. This was a Very Nice win against a staunch defensive OU. Go Dawgs !!
Excluding the pass to Taylor, Stockton is 5 of 16 for 33 yards since his 8 of 8 start. And most of that was in the 2nd half. Will not be able to come back against a team if losing in the 2nd half. Need to improve that.
Though Branch did get the majority of targets he didn’t come close to getting All. People complain about the lack of deep throws Yet don’t want the attempts. The passes I saw from Gunner were not vaguely “wing and prayer” throws but Nice deep passes. There were I think 3 deep misses.
But you Have to at least Try them to get competent at Doing them. And in the first half we Did use the TE’s. Keep in mind CMB calls the plays !! As you know Practice and Real games are Totally different. Especially against a staunch defense like OU. We got ahead by a big score. Perfect time to Work On the deep throws. Can’t have your cake and eat it to is my take .
Much of that is on CMB. But he was trying to run the ball more. Think what Might have been with a fully healthy Frazier ?
Well Yall there are ALWAYS things that need improvement and can be worked on. But this was a Very, Very solid win !! OU had been embarrassed last week and come into the Dawgs House looking to redeem themselves. Well Yall saw what happened !! Defending Ntl. Champion Indiana only beat Unranked NorthWestern by 6 points today !! So I’m Very proud of our Dawgs !! Just keep Choppin. Keep posting W’s !! Go Dawgs !!
That is what I so dislike about bobo. 14 point leads and he goes ultra conservative in play calling, even in the 2nd qtr of games.
O thought Frazier was supposed to of played. Turns out, didn't need him, but not worth risking further injury.
