ATHENS — It’s never good when you have more turnovers in a quarter than first downs.

Gunner has made progress this year but he's still leaving some plays on the field for sure. Hopefully there will be fewer and fewer of those as he continues to progress, Go Dawgs!
The team went from looked like a well oiled team in the first half to me wondering did a different team come out for the third quarter. Thx to a error prone Ok team we were able to weather the storm of our ineptness but I would surely love a few less throws into double coverage and looking for more than one receiver. I think we still have a ways to go on some of DB coverage but I'll take the win and hope that we progress as the season moves on
Even the first down via penalty was lucky as the “below the knees” call was dubious, at best. The OK kid was going for the tackle and Gaston just happened to be in his path. He had no intention of touching Gaston and actually did get a hand on the runner so no, I can’t even tag the Sooners with giving up a first down via penalty.
Third quarter has been a bust all season and we need to figure out whatever we are doing or saying wrong in the locker room. And Smart calling out the fans for not being “electric” is nonsense. When you play an away game, don’t expect their fans to be in your corner.
Complacency has always been a problem.! Kirby needs to tell the Dawgs to eat from the floor again and again! No matter what the score is, UGA needs to keep playing 110% and keep scoring even if it is 80 points. Score and pound the opponent when they are down! Don't let up until after the clock says 0.00. Our schedule is going to get tough with Alabama, Ole Miss, and Florida. If we keep playing like we have after 4 games we will lose to all three of them! There is more parity in SEC this year and we need to rise to the occassion and play harder and smarter! Very disappointed so far in not having a complete game performance that is up to our standards! Go Dawgs and eat from the floor!
I'm not a Mike Bobo hater, but that third quarter sure looked like some of the times in the past when we've looked like we're playing "not to lose". This mentality we get you beat.
“The offense turned four Oklahoma turnovers into just 17 points, with seven coming thanks to the easiest touchdown Chris Cole will ever score.”
So, in Connor speak, 17 points (3 scores out of 4 turnovers, 2 scores out of 3 by the offense) is a bad thing? Seriously Riley, work on your over dramatization skills, it looks petty. Just in case you are unaware, 75% conversion rate is a good number.
I think you lose some of that mental focus when you blow open a big halftime lead where the other team is sort of giving you the game. THe game is basically over barring a complete meltdown in the 2nd half. The sideline is already celebrating and hamming it up!
You can’t blame Bobo for the 3rd quarter. He had nothing to do with the 2 turnovers that really derailed the quarter. I agree the energy and focus coming out of the half is a concern and could be a problem if in a tight game. I’m sure this will be voted down, but it doesn’t appear that Stockton has gotten much better on his deep balls and if there comes a time when that is needed, it will be dependent on scheme to free up receivers that can wait for the ball to arrive. He has 2 long balls in the past 2 games but he has not hit any deep in stride and if the receiver had not been very open, the would have been contested. Would love a QB with Gunner’s head and heart but with a dangerous arm. Love him, but that skill set doesn’t look much better than last year. Go DAWGS!
I don't know….it seemed to me like the offense was airing it out in the third trying to put the nail in the coffin. You may have heard me way up in Chicago yelling, "Run the dang ball!"😊
I agree with you. On Stockton’s TD pass to Taylor, Taylor had actually stopped running and had to wait on the ball. A nano second later, and the DB would have broken it up. Stockton is not hitting guys in stride on deep balls (often they aren’t open, though), and they were so off in the third quarter I questioned whether they had even practiced together. He started the game 9 of 9, but finished 11 of 19. I just don’t understand why other SEC teams can seemingly throw the ball all over the yard, but we have to (for the most part) dink and dink our way down the field.
Very simple. Because we don’t Attempt deep passes enough in Real Games. All the practices in the world can’t simulate close enough to Real games vs. quality opponents.
In order for Gunner to get better at the deep passes we’re gonna have to Attempt them more often. With that comes risks. The possibility of an INT is greater. But the Reward could be a TD on a single throw. Or a huge chunk of yds.
So Dawgs need to try to get the score up so Gunner can have more opportunities to make those throws. The vs. Vandy should ( Hopefully) give another opportunity to try those.
Early on Especially against quality teams. The best route would be to throw short to intermediate passes to our Big TEs and let them get YAC. Try to get the score up and air a couple out as safe as possible. T. Taylor has the definite makings of a deep threat. Use him when we can. We have a decent run game even without Frazier. But when Frazier gets back fully healthy we will have a potent run game. Adding in a deep ball Threat will only help the Dawgs have a better Offense.
Yeah Gunner will miss on some. But he will also connect on some. Rival defenses will Have to account for that possibility which will help our Offense. Gunner made some Beautiful throws in the first half. Even the announcers bragged on him. Second half No. He was Bad in the second half. No excuses. CMB didn’t help any with his play calls. Hopefully we can tighten things up vs Vandy.
Gunner has been restricted to screen passes and short to intermediate passes nearly his whole time at UGA. Allot of that is CMB. And some directly on Gunner.
Dawgs fans have been screaming More Deep Passes !! Well it looks like CMB and Gunner are gonna try more of those. Yeah Gunner missed some and badly at that. But he threw some Beautiful bombs in the first half. If receivers had to slow down as some fans claim it was only a micro second. Coming into the game OU was cited by the “experts” as having the best defense in the SEC !! Dawgs have a legit deep threat guy in Taylor. Use Him !! BUT beat the rival defense down with throws to the TEs and our running game First !! Then at the proper moment air one out to Taylor !! Dawgs are gonna need all the weapons they can get going into the Big Games in the future !!
Gunner takes all the blame but brags on his teammates. Thats Gunner. Love that young man !!
Usually CKS wins the halftime adjustment battle. Not vs OU. Venables won that one. It was a bad 3rd Q. At least UGA has started fast in the games this year as opposed to the slow starts last year.
GS '26 looking a lot like GS '25. CMB's offense geared to maximizing GS within his limitations.
Watching that QB duel between USC (Maiava) vs OR (Raiola) makes me wonder what could have been at UGA. Throwing the ball all over the field.
Gunner Stockton picture with Drew Bobo when they were like 6 years old catching a fish says volumes. Stockton still not seeing open receivers and, on the interception, to start the 3rd quarter he had nobody open but could have tucked it and ran left as there was a huge gaping hole there. May have even taken it to the house. As I have stated our run game needs to carry us along with the defense. Florida beat the pants off of Ole MIss with their run game and just enough defense without getting much out of the passing game.
