ALL props to the Georgia D which did it's job yesterday - a masterclass of a performance. With that said, I am concerned about the offense I saw. I was not a fan of the play calling. I was at first, thrilled to see plays where the passing was emphasized, we did have some success there. Gunner did a good job with 2 passes to Taylor. The second half was just a mess offensively - especially in the 3rd quarter when we got just 3 points. It was just sloppy, and just awkward. Gunnar had NO command of the offense and the OL forgot how to block. Thank God it was not a close game at that point, and luckily, the D did not take time off during the same period to allow the Sooners some life in the game. When we go to Tuscaloosa and play against what appears to be a pretty high powered offense, we cannot have our offense lose their way. Our WRs (other than Taylor), were not getting the separation from the corners as they should have - yes, I know the Sooners have a good defense, but we always hear from the Georgia offense that they practice weekly with the best defense in the nation - so they should have some answers for when the opponent is pressing in coverage. AGAIN, where are the throws to the TEs? Yes, there were a few - but why are we not putting 3 TEs out there at some point every series and throwing to them to get the defense to back off the line somewhat? We have am amazing TE room and I am convinced that Bobo has no idea of how to take advantage of that. If he had Brock Bowers on the team right now, I am SURE Bowers would not have the stats that he did under the previous OC. We need to figure things out quickly BAMA, Florida and Ole Miss are straight ahead, and we need to get the offense on the same level as the defense and play TRUE complimentary football.
Yes! Kirby swears to reporters that the scoreboard is meaningless, but there is an obvious difference in the way the team plays once they get ahead. And don't get me started about the backup QB - there is no way we are winning against a good opponent if Gunnar goes down.
The defense does need to look into why the middle of the field was so wide open yesterday, the TE Beers went to the same spot a lot of the game and just waited for the ball to be thrown to him.
second game where we won big but didn’t look good doing so. OK TEs got whatever they want whereas ours - the best room in the nation - was not nearly utilized enough. Good QB pressure but we struggled to bring him down, more than shades of fun times with Chambliss last year. we’re looking at three losses in regular season if the secondary doesn’t clean things up and Gunner doesn’t take a step.
Good comments !! On the one hand I’m glad the score was high enough ( compliments in much part to our defense) that we could take those deep ball shots. On the other hand please don’t totally abandon the TEs anymore CMB !! Things worked out OK in This game due to our big lead over OU. But in Close games we won’t have the luxury of throwing so many deep passes and Missing.
IF we can get a Big lead over Vandy I’d like to see More deep pass attempts but not totally abandon the short to intermediate passes to those big TEs. They have the Size and athleticism to turn those shorter passes into longer with YAK.
The main thing that scared me a bit was the designed runs for Gunner that OU saw coming from a mile away !! It’s a wonder he didn’t get injured. The designed runs are very different from the tuck and runs of Necessity !! OU could see those designed runs and were keying in on Gunner !!
Lastly like to see them Throw the ball to Peanut Phillips with green grass in front of him !! He’s like a low flying missile !! Go Dawgs !!

Three tough games left. I don't know which one will be the toughest, win at Bama and things look much better. Lose there and things don't look near as rosey looking down the barrell at UF and Ole Miss.
The Gators are coming on strong—they gave Ole Miss all they wanted and much more. We need to be very prepared for them!
The offense and the play calling are trash again. Fourth tortuous year in a row with a defense that’s good enough and offense that when the lights are brightest will lay an egg. Set your calendars: first round playoff exit again. Meanwhile, Faulkner is lighting it up at UF. If we had any guts or standard of excellence on the offensive side of the ball we would’ve kicked our bozo to the curb and hired him.
everyone needs to ease up and look at the offensive play calling scheme in the second half. We had a sizable lead so it was a good time to work on some of the not-so-routine stuff. Except for the fumble, our rush game was pretty successful, better outside than between the tackles, but we ran the ball fairly well and consistent. Just about every series we tried a long pass down the sideline with only one completion, Taylor’s. Gunner had a few miscues, like the int and a couple short sideline misses, but for the most part they seemed to want to work on the long ball. I also didn’t like his decisions a couple times to pull it and run, and didn’t like the designed run, with that big lead. I’m confident, in a competitive game, we’ll use TEs and more varied passing game.
He wasn’t buddy buddy with Kirby so he was allowed to walk🤷
You have to laugh at Kirby chewing on Pugs butt fir throwing that pass at the end of the game
I wish I had as much confidence as you that the “deep ball threat is there when necessary.” I really don’t believe that is the case. And before the game was a blowout, we could have tried more deep balls. And I believe that we are TRYING to throw more deep passes. But watching the game in person, it was clear that our receivers just can’t consistently separate from DBs; that Stockton holds the ball a bit too long because he’s afraid of getting picked; and that our O-Line often doesn’t hold up well enough to allow the receivers to get out on deep routes (although they seemed to be slightly better at this yesterday). I don’t believe Bobo is the problem. I really believe that our offensive players are underperforming but because we have played vastly inferior teams this far, it has masked many of their issues. That will only last so long in the SEC.
I saw every second of the game and the coverage on camera. Every punter has a touchback. EVERY punter. Their returner had one good return and 7 bad or non returns on kickoffs and nothing on punts. That kid is supposed to be the best in college football and he got squat against us.
I also saw no mention in the evaluations about the consecutive PAT record.
No. A “B” is absolutely unwarranted.
