I don’t think this is the best defense Georgia will face this season. And while Raylen Wilson is great, Chris Cole needs to get his props. The scoop and score will get obvious attention, but Cole affects nearly every play when he’s on the field. I pray he stays healthy all year.
Which defenses you think are better than OU? LSU is good D, but we don't play them.
Within posting a negative comment on our immediate backup QB, I will just say that I think Hezekiah has earned the right to play a little mop up duty.
Who has the best defense then, Bama? Carolina is a bad team, period. Can't get a meaningful read there. Ole Miss looked very similar to the team that played Louisville and almost lost early. UF took advantage. UF gave up a lot of points to Auburn. Vandy may provide a little more spirited scrimmage, but scrimmage it will be for homecoming, then on to T Town. Venebles is much better than that idiot Wommack, so I feel good about it. That Russell kid over there has never seen anything like the defense that the Dawgs are bringing, and they won't be able to run on the Dawgs like they have so far so theres that.
Let’s see what happens in Tuscaloosa. That’ll tell us whether the Dawgs are a playoff contender or true title contender. Without the crazy Mateer turnovers, Saturday’s game would have been close.
It would have been close because of the OU defense that is better than Bama's defense. I also am not conceding that every drive that resulted in a turnover Saturday would have been a touchdown. The Dawgs should have Frazier back and will run on Bama just like in Atlanta in December.
Alabama has recruited as well as UGA (Rivals) over the last 5 years. With one exception. AL has signed 3 5* QB's. AL has also recruited the TP more substantially than UGA. This Alabama team is not last year's Alabama team.
From Saturday Down South today:
"After adjusting for opponent strength, Alabama is in the top 10 nationally in EPA on both sides of the ball. Keelon Russell seemingly gets better with each passing week and the Crimson Tide seem to have completely fixed their rushing offense woes from a season ago. They are currently averaging 4.9 yards per carry after gaining just 3.4 yards per attempt in 2025.
More on Russell — he’s been absolutely elite this season. He’s running a completion percentage over expected of nearly 15%, which puts him among the top quarterbacks in the nation in that category. He’s pushing the ball down field aggressively (nearly 29% of his throws travel 15+ yards beyond the line of scrimmage). He also has a rushing success rate of nearly 70% on 23 rush attempts. "
UGA's offensive stat's have been padded against 2 bad teams, 1 bad SEC team and 1 SEC that gifted UGA with 4 turnovers.
Until UGA can string 2 or more wins in a row vs AL I am not underestimating them.
I think the key stat for UGA vs Bama will be the sacks. Pressure does nothing to these mobile QBs. If UGA can light him up, I'll feel better about our chances. I think Bama's WRs can get separation on our Dbs which concerns me, especially if we don't affect the QB.
Even is we beat Bama 10 times in a row, don't underestimate them!
Go, Dawgs!
