What’s going on with all the chauncey bowens news?? 😰😰
I think Mike missed it.
@PeterA Chauncey Bowens was added to the initial injury report as "Out" — there will be an update and another story on Thursday night
Dadgumit! We needed our RB group to be at full strength for this game. With a soaked, slippery field, I felt like we had the advantage.
Bowens is UGA's hardest running, most physical RB. Him being out and being replaced by an already banged up Frazier (w/only 20 and 24 in reserve) is extremely bad news for UGA. It feels like a UGA RB fumble on saturday.
Jeez, tough news about Bowens but Phillips can handle backup duties, as can Bo Walker (if he can avoid fumbling). But am I the only one that thinks Georgia has weird injury reports. Our guys get hurt during a game, go out of that game, then come back and play as if everything is OK, only to be "OUT" in the NEXT GAME. It's just weird to me. Bowens was initrially injured on the penultimate play of the first half against Vandy, then came back and played in the second half as if he was banged up but not seriously. Now he's listed as OUT, not even questionable (which to me is the same as OUT). Just odd. I don't expect Canion to play this week. I sure wish Green could come back, though. I think he provides a spark on special teams and I think he has good instincts as a DB.
One more thing I forgot to say: Who are these doctors at the University of Alabama? How does a player, a tight end, no less, break his arm on one Saturday and is actually in the mix to play the following Saturday? Like, wouldn't a tight end need both of his arms even if he's just blocking? I just don't get it. Those Alabama guys (historically) play within days with broken bones and severely pulled muscles. And our guys (Again, I'm speaking historically here, not necessarily this year) seemingly go down for weeks with mysterious or non-contact injuries that get listed as "undisclosed" on the injury reports. smh
Our running backs are never full strength. Everyone one gets tackled you hold your breath. Other teams just don’t have the foot injuries. I don’t remember who it was but a RB from Bama was said to be out for the season. Saban said I am not sure about that. Next weekend the guy ran all over us.
Seems Georgia players have more lower body injuries than any other team. One has to wonder if it’s the equipment or possibly field they practice on. Hate that Bowen is out. Bo doesn’t have the speed . Go dawgs
Just better hope Frazier feels fresh and is healed enough to play at 100%, because Bowen's skill set is hard to replace if Nate has to go back out.
Unusually high ratio of "out" to all injuries, for both teams. Interesting that 'Bama is almost all defensive players out... opportunity for Dawgs' running game in sloppy conditions?
Spot on. There has been a marked difference in lower extremity injuries since the new UGA practice field was opened as part of all the incentives to get Kirby here. I could only dig up a few reports, but the difference is notable once the new field was put in.
Amazing how many more non-contact, non-game injuries Georgia has since then...
It’s a shame that Dante Dowdell - rb transfer from Kentucky - got hurt in the ATV accident. He was taking reps with both teams in G day game and looked really good. I also looked at videos of him from Kentucky, and I think he would have had a big role on this team.
I don’t understand how someone can break an arm, have surgery and then play TE in the SEC a week later.
Here’s hoping Frazier is close to 100%.
