Hopefully they can get the game in on Saturday night providing its safe for everyone. Unless they played it Sunday, which may not be allowed since the NFL season has started, or Monday then the only open date on the schedule is the 24th of October a week before the Florida game and sandwiched between Auburn and Florida but Alabama plays A&M so the 24th would not work. Even playing this Monday would be two less days to get ready for a decent Auburn team. None of those are good alternatives. Safety comes first however but from a scheduling point of view Saturday would be the best day for the game. Whatever happens will happen and Kirby will make the best of it. It will also effect Alabama. If the game is postponed Saturday it seems the only alternative would be to reschedule either Sunday (if allowed) or Monday. Of those options Sunday would be better.
Again the question is not can the game be played… but at what expense. Latest report shows the storm will pick up speed and clear Tuscaloosa by maybe 2pm. THe show might go on, as they say, depending on what has transpired up to that point(downed electical lines, downed redlights, road floodingsm tree limbs and debris.. Go DAWGS!
talk about suggesting jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire…🙄
The point is that people are crying acting like this is going to be some monster CAT 5 storm which is going to wreak havoc. Everyone needs to chill out already and stop with the "sky is falling" fear mongering about this low category and very FACT hurricane. I drove to the Athens game last Saturday through a horrendous storm and got there unscathed. People need to actually look at the forecasts and see the impact will be minor at most. You know how many times Georgia calls State of emergencies for weather every year for supposed snow storms which never even materialize into a flurry? Every new forecasts show that this hurricane is going to be low impact for the central Alabama area and there is no reason for people to panic like its the end of the world.
Distractions aplenty. Going to be an interesting evening.
Since @MikeGriffith posted this article, they've slowed the windspeed assumptions so the center of the storm appears directly over Tuscaloosa at ~1-2 PM. Regardless, whether the center has passed or not, it has a huge "cone" meaning the awful weather can last many hours after the passing of the center/eye.
Who knows what will happen in the last 12 hours before kickoff, based on history... will be an interesting College Game Day!
