Georgia tailback and TD leader Chauncey Bowens showed up as "out" for the Alabama game on the Wednesday night injury report, putting the Bulldogs a man down in the backfield.

No reps for Bowen....means more reps for Phillips, Walker & Peal/Lamar.
With Frazier doing his thang this week....i don't really see a down side.
Bowen gets a couple weeks of rest....Frazier just had his, last week....and the young guys get more experience. All of whom.…are very capable in their own right.
I dare Bama to stop em! Lol. Go get em Big Red. Time to turn it up!
Well, just a typical injury report at Georgia…more keys out or banged up….just wait until we hit 16 or 24 teams in the playoffs next season and NC contenders are playing 16-18 games per season…last team standing that has the fewest key injuries wins the Natty…
You are exactly correct and that is why the decision by the SEC to go to a 9-game conference slate is nuts. Those teams that have weak conferences (outside the top 3-teams) and/or weak out-of-conference schedules will be able to withstand the playoff grind. I don't have much hope that any SEC teams will be on top in the near future - hoping I'm being pessimistic, and will be proven wrong! Go DAWGS!
They're gonna have to go back to "the old way" of deciding the SECC. A flow chart to weed out the wannabes. Lol...boring!
All I will say is…Chauncey…this one hurts the run game. I do no not believe Nate is 100%. Dwight gonna have to take up a lot of slack. Kirby's "dings" generally means out next game or so.
I don't know that there is that much dropoff from Walker to Bowens. The key will be how close to 100% Nate is. Peanut will continue to get carries and that is a good thing. Got to keep the chains moving and hit a decent pass or two and play lights out defense like back in December. The Russell kid has played his college snaps against the South Carolina, Kentucky, and Mississippi St. defenses. There is NO comparison to what the Dawgs are bringing, he has never in his playing career seen anything like what he is about to face. Bama has been creating turnovers to get there momentum in games. Take that away from them and make them start deep on drives. I like the Dawgs in this one.
If Frazier isn’t 100%, Georgia’s chances of winning this game goes way down.
I haven’t been on here today until now. And what sickening news to see. Hate it for Bowens and the team. As has been said already I hope Nate is as close to 100% as possible.
Now I’m not saying Walker is as good or better than Bowens. But he’s no slouch either. He runs low to the ground and hard to tackle. He’s also has good speed. Now is a time for him to show case his skills on a big stage.
Peanut Phillips is a known factor. Gunner can throw the ball to him with confidence. The other RBs like Peal and Lamar get a chance to show their stuff to. Also we could Run Reddell at times to. It’s certainly not a good situation but just have to bring what we have. Go Dawgs !!
@MikeGriffith Mike Bama has a pretty lengthy lists of injured players as well. Are any of them Starters or key players ? Would you list the ones that are impact players for Bama please ? Thank You in advance !!
Good observation @navydawg, I would add that ball protection will be a major concern when it comes to the less experienced ball carriers. You know the Bama defense is going to be ripping at it, and in a game like this one turnover can make all the difference. I really wish they would go down when they are in the grasp of three defenders and the extra effort can only get them one more yard, but increases the chances of getting the ball ripped out. That's probably not a popular opinion among those who coach running backs (and know far more about football than I do)!
GO DAWGS!
You know Plenty about football from your comments I always enjoy and respect. them. And you read my mind on this one !!
Green, raw RBs running in wet weather. That’s scary !! And unless it’s a Close must have first down I think your idea of going down is very good !! But the coaches would probably scold both of us Lol !!
But it does seem that’s when fumbles And injuries occur. Straining to get that last couple of feet. If it’s a gotta have first down I understand it. But in wet weather it’s to risky. You’re so right the Bama defenders will be clawing skin off our RBs trying to tear the ball out !! Just Believe in our Team and Trust in the Coaches all we can do. Go Dawgs !!
Not a typical matchup this year. The game hinges on whether their defense can force Gunner into mistakes, or if the Dawgs top-5 passing efficiency can systematically pick apart Bammers 106th-ranked secondary.
@navydawg LB Justin Hill was a starter, LB Desmond Umeozulu was a backup but played a lot of reps in the rotation, DL Jeremiah Beaman was hurt early in the season but was headed for playing time in rotation and tight end Josh Ford was a starter and is trying to play even after breaking an arm against Mississippi State
@MontanaDawg Exactly why Kirby and Kiffin led charge against SEC expanding to nine-game league schedule
