Gunner, did you hear that?
Hah! Tru dat! Gunner just let that soak in, baby!
Dawg defense will rise up and punish Russell!
Go Dawgs!
Just more controversial banter which Smith is known for...which QB is better will be determined tomorrow.
In Bama's toughest games so far this season, the team rushed for 155 yards (KY) and 179 yards (MS State). Russell only accounted for a net (8) yards total combined for both those games. Bama has a 2-headed rushing attack now that doesn't need to involve Keelon. They had virtually a zero rushing attack last season. Hard to believe they beat us in Athens, because they were so one-dimensional.
Dawgs need to be able to produce an effective pass rush with 4, or at the most, 5 guys. Contain Russell and the edge. If it's still raining then the rushing attack will probably be more important. Gunner can certainly be a weapon there as well. Gunner and Keelon are gr3at QBs for their respective teams. Whichever QB can lead tgeir team to victory will win the QB battle for this weekend. I trust Gunner to get it done.
Better have someone spying the QB.
Cole "The Nightmare" is on it (tee up Metallica's Enter Sandman). Go Dawgs!
Gunner can beat teams with his legs. Ask auburn from last year. Gunner is a senior and has played a ton more than this kid which hasn’t seen a defense like he’s about to have unleashed on him. I’m sure he’ll make some plays on our defense, but with the game on the line, I’d rather have an experienced QB. Go Dawgs!
Anyone putting stock in ANYTHING that moron says is an idiot. So there's that.
Steve A Smith is a talentless know nothing who was a D3 walk on in basketball. GS doesn't need to be for the Dawgs to win, Stetson Bennett showed the world that years ago. Go Dawgs!
And Stephen A Smith ain't no Chris Berman..
Dawgs need to contain and pressure the Bama rookie. Make whatever adjustments early and don't let him feel comfortable back there.
S.A. Smith has made a nice living by making inflammatory comments. 90% of the time he’s clueless. Experience does count. I’m sure Keelon is a great athlete and will probably go on to be a great QB. But he’s at a huge disadvantage compared to Gunner in the experience department.
I trust Kirby and I trust Gunner. It’ll be a battle but our Dawgs will prevail and get the W !! Oh and though extremely important it’s not Gunner that’s gonna be the most important factor. It’s our Defense.
Keelon is gonna blow a circuit in his brain trying to keep up with all the different looks the Dawgs defense will present. Go Dawgs !!
“I’m definitely higher on Keelon Russell,” Smith said on ESPN’s First Take show. “Gunner Stockton is efficient, he’s good, but he ain’t Russell."
In true ESPN fashion, Smith says nothing substantive or objective in support of his choice of Russell over Stockton. He (Smith) doesn't seem to understand that Stockton isn't trying to be Russell, and the UGA football program lead by CKS isn't asking him to be Russell. We will need Stockton to be the best version of Gunner Stockton that he can be, but that's true of each player that gets on the field, to be their best. Smith has made a career out of saying controversial things and appealing to the sensationalism that ESPN viewers prefer over objective journalism.
Let's see if I have this right, Russell has run the ball 10% of the snaps he has played, and he has averaged 5 yds/run. Stockton has run the ball 10% of his snaps and averaged 6 yds/run and blow hard Ames considers one of these guys as "mobile" and one of these guys as "able to run".
Interesting perspective. No wonder the viewer numbers have gone down so much on first take.
Absolutely @Stiffneck, let's see who he really is when the pressure's on and he's feeling frustrated. He hasn't been in that situation yet, and most who haven't are prone to making mistakes. An early turnover(s) will be exactly what we need to take control of this game!
GO DAWGS!
And who cares what Stephen A. Smith thinks?
