Dwight Phillips Jr. carried the ball 17 times against Alabama, and he says he's ready for more work if called upon.

Peanut plays like a Cashew!
“I feel a little beat up, but through six games I bet everyone is feeling a little bruised up,” Phillips said, asked about his health after the physical 20-17 win at Alabama."
It would be nice to have a substantial lead going into the second half against Auburn on Saturday. This would allow CKS to limit Phillips' carries and exposure to a possible injury, and give Peal and Lamar some playing time. The RB room can't afford anymore injuries, especially to a player who has been as productive as Phillips.
GO DAWGS!
Love his talent and desire but let's not saddle him with this potential to be the greatest title. He needs to have breaks as well so let's not overload the wagon.
Very humble kid, no big celebrations after a good run. He just hand ball back to the ref like Chubb used to do.
@jamboogie @GoodOlDawg Agree with Both of you !! If at all possible get the score up high and pull Peanut. Let Peal and Lamar carry the load. As we’ve already seen we can use other players as RBs on a few snaps like Reddell. Use Bo Walker a bit more than Peanut but pull him to as soon as possible. We don’t have any guarantees but Hopefully at a minimum we’ll have Phillips, Frazier, and Walker available after the Bye as our main RBs. Sounds like Bowens may take longer. The experience would be great for Peal and Lamar. Go Dawgs !!
Rewatched the Bama game. Phillips has very good instincts and vision to go with that speed. He is a game changer. How do you keep him healthy? Best skills I've seen in a long time. I should note, the O Line really had a great game.
To answer my own question, I think you play Bo Walker more. Maybe not the speed, but vision is excellent and his frame can take more hits. I mean you never know what's the best option, but from my armchair qb spot, I think you pull phillips back just a little and give Bo more. We've got to have Phillips for the long haul.
Remember James Cook III? He was essentially the same size as Peanut (5'11" 185 to 190lbs) and I'd say he did pretty good. As the old saying goes: "it's not the size of the Dawg in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the Dawg…" Not sure if Jae Lamar has played too much to save his Redshirt, but he might have to "man up" as well and get in the mix. We are seeing why quality depth is so important. Gunner will need to have a stellar game passing as well, and with Auburn's best pass rusher suspended, that tips the scales in our favor. But, like Kirby says, "humility is always one week away in the SEC." Peanut and Bo Walker are going to have to man up and ram it down Auburn's throat.
Peanut found creases and popped through them when I thought he was going to get stuffed at the LOS. For the first time is some time I feel like we have a true homerun threat at RB. No one going to catch him from behind! Go DAWGS!
Phillips is masterful at being patient enough to let the blocking develop each play so he can find the right gap to run through. This is a skill that some of our backs never really mastered in previous years imho. As long as he can stay healthy, Phillips can look at how James Cook is thriving in the NFL because he can be as good or even better than Cook. GO DAWGS! Do not take Auburn as any sort of automatic win. Run to the sound of the guns!
Phillips reminds of Cook, in that both came to UGA a bit undersized and stayed to develop into really good every down backs. Most fans don't recall that Cook made the play ( a key blitz pickup) that allowed Bennet to make the touchdown pass to AD Mitchell in the CFP Championship. BTW, there is no redshirt anymore since everyone gets five years to complete their eligibility.
Good comments ! I agree with your assessments ! Go Dawgs !!
most signs point to Nate not going to the NFL unless he has a strong second half, it’ll be interesting to see how the RB room turns out. Dwight, Bo, Chauncey, Jae, Nate, and Kemon….
Mike, we beat Vandy 38-14, not 38-24.
Ideally Bobo can scheme up a winning attack that involves a heavy dose of Lamar and Peal. Losing Bo or Peanut at this point in the season would be really problematic. We need to rest Frazier some more. It would be awesome to have him at 100% for the last couple of regular season games and then for the push to a national championship. ps/I hope we soundly beat Auburn and humiliate Florida.
