Lol…yep...I agree. There's a reason nobody had that many players drafted in one class.…at least in this 7 Round event. I don't know who did what, back when there was a hundred rounds (tic).
There was every reason to believe.....that there was a lot of hype surrounding UGA's Defense at the time,as I recall. But, it didn't take long to realize.…it wasn't hype. It was real. I don't think i 'be ever seen a Defense that loaded with pure talent.
Throw in the physical & mental development of all of those guys....and, there's "no good reason" for Kirby Smart not winning the COY Award. If not THEN....then, somewhere along the line.
IMO...."Hype" or the lack, thereof...is responsible for the many slights on some pretty DGD's over the years. The two backs you mentioned were awesome, btw. Not hype....Lol.
Very interesting comments about Kirby's roster management, Kirby playin the long game, and such.
It has become abundantly clear that a team doesn't have to win every regular season game to be admitted to the "season" which counts and where every game has to be won. I don't like it and Kirby doesn't either, but there's no reason to not be prepared for the post season assuming you can still win enough games to "earn" admission.
How many games would Notre Dame have to lose to miss the playoffs? The over-under on this question is 4.
Interesting how college football used to have a highly subjective system for picking the national champion. Now we have a much different system which is still highly subjective and made up on the fly. Except for the law of football which says Notre Dame must be included in all playoffs. Go, Dawgs!
Btw....I happen to believe, that this Season's Offense may be on par with "that" Defense. I know that's saying a lot....but, look at it objectively....position by position. Nobody in CFB has that kind of depth....unless I'm missing something.
Go Dawgs!
