The SEC has been volatile this season, as Kirby Smart has noted that "everybody can beat everybody."

I know the Dawgs are beat up, most teams are. It would be nice to get a couple more difference makers back, and that includes Nate. He will have to rturn to form over the bye. Hopefully Green will return to return punts. The defense just needs to get well and get back to basics. They played well against Bama but I'm sure it beat the boys up some. That game was a war, and it took something out of Bama as well. They might not have lost to the Vols otherwise. Such is SEC football. Gunner and others must practice ball control over the bye, and I know Kirby will be on the megaphone a lot the next two weeks. Funny things happen in the UGA AU rivalry, no team ever won ten straight. All the harping about Auburn beating AP #1 teams. I think the Dawgs improved as a team enough to overcome this and use it to propel them. If the Dawgs prepare like I believe they will they will run UF out of the Benz. Ole Miss gonna be tough but winnable if the defense commits to getting better. I wish the SEC Championship game were already gone. Nothing but a game to cause injuries.
We have to admit that unlimited access to the portal and the influence of the monied few have brought parity to the game. With 24 playoff format, coaches will be assessed not on making the playoffs occasionally but on their average standing from year to year in this new second season. More players will make it to the field through shear attrition. The championship may well be decided more by who can get their talent onto the field for the gauntlet to come.
85 yards in penalties by the Dawgs. A gift to Auburn. 24 unanswered points. Missed tackles, blown assignments, turnovers, getting pushed around on the line of scrimmage. Can't stop their run and couodn' t really make ours very effective.
Sure, Gunner made mistakes, but this loss goes to every single player and coach. Too many bounders to count. Moments of greatness on occasion mixed in with mostly an amateur performance by the supposed #1 team in the nation.
Kirby, go back to fundamentals this week - tackling, blocking, assignment football. The guys obviously need to start over.
Stop with the we're too tired excuse, mentally exhausted, blah, blah, blah. This was only game #7. (2) of those games were against cupcakes. No, this was just plain sloppy execution for over 3 quarters.
Fix it. Get ready for a potentially explosive #20 Florida team that may or may not show up at Mercedes Benz.
We had two very good chances to win Saturday-first, all we had to do was stop them from driving down the field after our fumble to kick the winning field goal—secondly all we had to do was finish our drive when we fumbled to them. We failed miserably at both. I think the most problematic to me is our defence's inability to stop them with the game on the line. You're either elite or you're not—as quoted. Looking at our talent, I thought we would have an elite defense—this game makes me wonder.
Number 1 lost to an unbanked team at home . Oh the this loss or that loss may have been worse . No , Ga was number 1 and didn’t lose to 2-25 . What leader smiles during post game interviews after a lackluster performance. Remember Tebow’s interview after the loss to ole miss and what he promised ? I’ll give you a hint . He wasn’t smiling . What a joke .
@lucydog - We had two very good chances to win Saturday-first, all we had to do was stop them from driving down the field after our fumble to kick the winning field goal''''
All true, in many ways it was just like the losss to OLE MIss in the playoffs. HAd the ball on what their 3-4 yard line and couldn't punch it in, had to settle for the feild goal, and they get the ball with less than 2 minutes (not sure) and we can't stop them from moving down the field. for the win.
While we certainly have a very good defense, we don't really shut down the passing game as well as we should and while pressurring the QB alot, we don't bring him down as much as we should. Too many wide open receivers for Auburn Saturday. And honestly against BAMA , Keelon jkust missed them.
Spot on assessment...imo... @MikeGriffith .
That Bama War took on a new life, Saturday. I think the UGA vs Bama Game effected both teams this week.
The Winner of that game has the upper hand on the SEC & CFP. But, both teams were so beat up this "weak"....that it made em look average against a lesser opponent (imo).
Neither Team can afford to play that physical again.…for a few weeks, at least. I look for Bobo to throw the ball more vs Florida. Get the ball in his playmakers hands in space....to relieve the pressure on the running game and O-Line for a minute.
They'll need that Physicality against Ole Miss....unless Ole Miss has a "War" before they play UGA....and come into that game as beat up as Bama & UGA were Saturday.
Bottom Line: The Dawgs....can't afford a beat up Offensive Line to go with a banged up Backfield, going into the Ole Miss Game.
That defense looked plumb wore OUT, on that last drive. Saw a few loafs...just sayin'. Course they were on the field a lot, in the 2nd half...it seemed...chasing that darned QB all over the field. Lol...that can't happen...missed tackles....broken tackles. Exhaustion is the culprit....imo.
Unusual for a UGA Team....but it happened in the '21 SECC Game vs Bama no less. The Dawgs had a month to heal before they went on to dominate the CFP.
Go get em Big Red....we know who you are. Fantastic comeback attempt Saturday. "**** happens", as they say. Lol. Get ready for Gator Kabobs! That's all that matters, now.
