Kirby may project calm, but any coach that loses to 2-3 Auburn with a running QB is worried. The lack of penetration and containment on the defense was a huge issue. The lack of adjustment at halftime was inexcusable. We need a co Defensive coordinator. We also need to play Bo Walker and D phillips more.
Coach Smart is pretty great about not giving billboard material one way or the other. I expect coach speak from him, but I also do my best to look for the kernels of truth beneath whatever is popping. In the end, yeah, both of these guys seem like good prospects. One of them being QB1 over the other doesn't seem to mean much one way or the other. When we go back to the idea that UGA practices "to beat everyone," that ought to mean "regardless of who's behind center." Back when we had that CFB loss to the Bummers because Saban put in Tua at the last minute, we had literally no scouting on the dude; he had barely played, so there was no telling what could happen. When the reverse happened the next year, it's not a different story. Smart has even joked about this. It's not exactly the same issue this year, as there ought to be plenty of data to work with regardless of who the qb is; plenty to work with as far as prep goes. Plus, like is mentioned above, if they have relatively similar skillsets in the same offense, there shouldn't be that many tweaks to have to make at gametime.
so what’s the word on Bowen? Is he gone for the year?
