ATHENS – Isiah Canion was brought in from the transfer portal to be a difference-maker for the Georgia wide receiver room.

I can't think of a better opportunity or time to switch Kaiden Prothro to WR????
OK. So now we actually have a story on DawgNation that confirms what I've been saying all year: the University of Georgia football team doesn't need Isaiah Canion to have success in the wide receiver room. I know I'll get downvoted for this, but I NEVER believed the hype over him. I would honestly be surprised if he ever plays for UGA again, but in any event, can we all (and I'm including the UGA coaches in this) stop counting on him. Go Dawgs. Beat Florida!
I’m guessing that his blocking during practice hasn’t been satisfactory to KS. Otherwise I’m surprised he hasn’t been weaponized given all the hype we heard coming into the season. If he has good hands and is targeted with a well placed ball, his 4.55 and 6’6 will do the rest, every time.
Ps/ The Gators **** as-. Go Dawgs!
I’d never down vote you, but I disagree with your take on Canion. He was GT’s leading receiver against us last year and had more yardage than Branch, our leading receiver. For the season he was GT’s #3 receiver and averaged more yards per catch than any of their top 6 receivers. This weekend we will definitely focus on Bailey Stockton who wasn’t even close to Canion in receptions, yards and average per catch. Canion also had 4 TD catches…..twice as much as the next most productive GT receiver. Our DBs and WRs were all salivating over how good he was. Bottom line is he may not contribute anymore this season due to his injury, but I sincerely hope he doesn’t declare for the draft and comes back to play another year for the good guys. Go Dawgs and get well soon Canion!!!
Well stated!
Go Dawgs!
Kind of eating crow with all my harsh criticism of James Coley, the WR room has really stepped it up this year. Thank goodness the drops aren't killing us this year (yet - fingers crossed) or we'd easily be staring at a 5-2 record at best.
Bill, You and Navy had a busy vote down-athon on the Bryan commitment article but hey, if this site is going to give us silly buttons to play with, why not, right? Opinions are made to be rated I reckon, but can honestly say I have never voted any comment or commenter up or down on this site. Just seems counter-intuitive to the comment process and just plain silly to me. Would rather see more opinions but anyway, off the soap box now. Oh, And that off topic button, she's a doozey. Kind of like the defcon 4 button ☢️
I appreciate and respect your response. You make good points. But, your stated own facts — plus a couple of my own — are why I'm not high on Canion. First of all, as you noted, he was Tech's #3 receiver last year. Third on a team that wasn't known for its vibrant passing attack. He may have had more yards per catch, but that simply means the few passes he caught were perhaps for big yardage. But what that stat doesn't show is consistency. But because he had so much pre-season hype, I specifically watched him this year. He was healthy and played full games against our TWO WORST OPPONENTS, yet only had three catches. He didn't have more because the truth is, he just didn't get open that much. It's why the guys with less hype have been able to do so well, not just recently but from the start of the season. Taylor, Dandridge, Humphries, Blackshear — they all outplayed Canion in the two games in which all of them were healthy. The coaches and the players will never say that, but just go find film of the games and see for yourself. But for now he's a Dawg and if he does play, I will pull for him because I always pull for the Dawgs. However, I can't agree with you about him returning next year. We're already showing we can win without him and except for Humphries, the aforementioned players should all be back next year. Plus, Kirby swears we've got receivers on the team now who are tearing it up in practice and are close to being game ready. So, I hope Canion can play again because injuries are no fun. I just don't count on him. Go Dawgs!
No way Florida wins against Georgia. That embarrassment that was the Auburn game has Georgia in revenge mode and the Gators will be the recipients of that anger. GO DAWGS!
Jimmie I have absolutely nothing against you at all. And yes the buttons are kind of silly. But they are at times much better than what people can Say to each other on this site. I’m no angel on that as I’ve Said things in a snarky way that I wish I hadn’t said.
But the fact that Bryan’s father is a famous singer has absolutely nothing good, bad, or in between about his ambitions as a QB. Or at least shouldn’t. There were several, several snarky comments about him on that thread. So Some Dawgs fans are Mad or Disappointed that he chose the Dawgs to commit to ? To me that’s pretty sad.
Remember Ladd McConkey was a QB in HS !! He didn’t have any offers from any D1 schools if memory serves right. And look what Kirby and staff did with him !! And at the very least what if the fact that his Dad is a celeb draws players to UGA are we gonna be mad or disappointed about that ?
I just feel he deserves a fair shake like anyone else. At least he didn’t take the offer and throw it right back in Kirby’s face like golden boy Arch did !!
@truthteller Hello I want to apologize to you about my reply to you on the game day thread. But in fairness it was a response to your Nostradamus comment. Though I shouldn’t have done it I did post twice that I had had bad gut feelings the week of that game. But the Reason I posted twice was I was dazed and in disbelief that my gut feelings were coming true.
Ironically I had good feelings about the Bama game. No I’m not a prophet, coach, expert, just an average fan who loves the Dawgs. But if people are honest I don’t think it’s unusual to get gut feelings about games in advance.
I’m with you on the mud lizards I think our Dawgs will take out their pain, frustration, and anger on them. I think it will really begin in the second half. Any way I’ll try hard to be more civil.
Canion, Dowdell and Mims, bust of a transfer year for the Dawgs :(
I’m not a fan of the “down-vote” button being anonymous, so I don’t use that one. I love the “up-vote” button because it shows that I like what I read (kinda like a thumbs up) on occasions that I don’t have a comment to make. I even try to give a thumbs up when someone disagrees with my comment if they do a really good job of explaining why, back it up with some facts that I didn’t consider, and keeps the dialogue going! Sometimes our “passion” gets the best of us (especially me) and we start sounding like children. I’m working on that……
Hello everyone hope Yall are all doing well. I wanted to wait until the temperature dropped some in here. It seems to have done so. I have at times got snarky with some of you and made u g l y uncalled for comments. I apologize. In fairness though sometimes they were in self defense. Still I should try harder to keep my composure.
I’m not a Coach, Expert, Prophet of any kind. I have No clue how good or bad the Dawgs will do from here out. All I have to offer is opinion and speculation. I can also offer the things I’d do or wouldn’t do if I was HC or part of the coaching staff. But the Fact is I’m just a fan. I sincerely doubt that Kirby or any of his staff read the comments here. And even if by some strange reason they did I doubt they’ll change their program strategy and game plans based on fan input on a web site.
We as Dawgs fans Love the Dawgs with a deep passion. We want them to Win, Win, Win, and Never lose. But the Truth is that’s not realistic. The loss to Auburn was Terrible because we All know the Dawgs are capable of Far Better. There was and is No Excuse for that loss. But if you look at football historically and even recently those games happen. And not just to our Dawgs. I don’t watch or keep up with the NFL. But look at the undefeated 49s lost to the hapless Falcons. BYU lost to an unranked team. These games happen from time to time. But I’d caution against trying to Define the Dawgs by that game as horrendous as it was. I’ve filed it away and ready to move on to UF.
Speaking only for Me, I can’t and I won’t live in fear. Dawgs might lose more games I don’t know. But until they do I’m gonna Believe in them. If they do lose I’m gonna Still Love them. They are the Only team I love and support. I’m Not gonna drop them when they lose. Even a no excuse loss.
Football is a Game. It is supposed to be for entertainment. Not to make you psychologically sick to your stomach. And not for people to lash out in u g l y anger at each other. So Again I sincerely Apologize for the times that I have lashed out at people here in u g l y anger. I’ll try my best to do better. May God Bless & Protect you All !! Go Dawgs !! Time to stomp a mud puddle in the mud lizards and walk it dry !!
