First of all, a GREAT performance from the defense. I hope they play the same against Ole Miss - just lights out! Not a fan of how the offense played tonight. Stockton has not looked "right" the past two games, and I am not sure what it is. His poor performance in the Auburn game was blamed on a hurt shoulder. If that was the case, why did he run so much tonight? The dawgs were playing one of college football's worst pass defenses and yet - very few passes to stretch the field. And, of the 12 or so times Stockton ran the ball, probably half were designed plays. When the game was basically over (last 5 mins), he ran the ball again and again. What was the purpose of that?? Why get him hurt before the big game at Ole Miss? There is something up with him. Another missed FG tonight as well. Our kicker, who was crazy good last year, is not automatic. I hate to complain, but if we have to have a shoot out with Ole Miss next week, I am not sure Stockton is up to the task. Other than that, so glad we won and GO DAWGS!
Was so glad to see the much improved tackling from our Defense today. They got back to the basics and it worked !! Now for the Offense to step up ! Go Dawgs !!
The defense played great football today. A lot better than the Auburn game. The offense, on the other hand, didn't play as well. Didn't meet the intensity of the defense. The offense has to get more creative in finding the weak area of the defense and attack it. Find the mismatch. It was some today, and Gunner just didn't see them.
Unless Gunner improves his passing game, we won't go far in the playoffs. Many of his passes are off target and uncatchable. He also has a tendency to throw directly into the faces and hands of the defensive linemen who bat the pass down. He also has a problem seeing open receivers—the broadcasting crew pointed this out most of the game. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all of Gunner's remarkable good traits in playing winning football—I just hope he can improve his passing game by the end of the season.
