Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Re: Next To Commit To The G 2020
The numbers didn't match up at the time. Numbers change a lot in the 6 weeks after ESD. Some attrition is known and planned for. Some attrition is expected but not known for sure.....contingency planned for. Some attrition is unexpected and not planned for. Managing a hard number of 85 is difficult. Made even more… -
Re: Next To Commit To The G 2020
I think we have 30 scholarships to fill by the end of spring practice 2020 (before non-EE 2020 recruits enroll). The 85 number is the only number NCAA really cares about. The 25 number is unrealistic in today’s day of the transfer portal and the ever increasing number of early entrants to the NFL Draft. -
Re: Next To Commit To The G 2020
I think that Kirby will do what is necessary to make room in the 85. We currently sit at 85 and will have 16 out of eligibility at seasons end. I am convinced that a minimum of 4 declare early (Fromm, Swift, Thomas and Wilson). So with 20 almost guaranteed I can easily see another 3-5 declare/enter portal. I had 12… -

Re: Next To Commit To The G 2020
As has been discussed on several forums over the last few months, this one included IIRC, the supposed "hard limit" of 25 isn't quite so hard after all. It turns out the NCAA gives a good amount of leeway to teams on that rule. The main rule they concern themselves with is the 85 scholly rule. There are always ways to… -
Re: Next To Commit To The G 2020
Lost me with "..with only 23 allowed under the annual rule ....." Why isn't the annual limit 25 this and every year (excluding the alleged extra slots to make up 'short' prior years)? My point is that if UGA has a 25 limit for 2020, signing Nadab may impact the ability to sign all 25 due to Nadab taking one of the 85 hard… -
Re: Next To Commit To The G 2020
@oldon42 the bear was the reason for the rule of 85. It was to hopefully spread talent amongst many school instead of stock piling at one school. If CKS could have as many as he wanted he would have so many kids committed from within the state into would be ridiculous. Also they are trying to prevent coaches from just… -
Re: Next To Commit To The G 2020
You are only allowed to have 85 scholarship players but you also are only allowed to recruit 25 in any year. The 25 is an absolute rule but can be gotten around by adding players on or after the start of fall practice under certain conditions. For the class of 2020 we start with 25 but 2 of those were Cager and Wolf as…
