Re: Former SEC head coach zeroes in on mismatches, back-breaking play and Georgia football glory
Thoroughly prepared on O and D. I guess the rat poison before the Peach Bowl and barely eking out a win vs OSU got the youngsters attention and focused on being completely dialed in. If you watch the game again, watch JBullard's 1st INT again closely. He lined up 10-15 yards off the LOS covering the slot WR Johnston. A… -
Re: 3 takeaways following Alabama victory over Ohio State in 2021 National Championship
So, how many Heisman Trophy's has the great Justin Fields won? Answer, NONE. So, how many Natty's has the great Justin Fields won? Answer, NONE. So, how many Maxwell Trophy's has the great Justin Fields won, the trophy that goes to the best QB? Answer, NONE. So, all you armchair coaches that have been, and still are on the… -
Re: Final grades from Georgia football win over Kentucky
CBeck played really well. His INT on 3rd and 16 was a bonehead play. It didn't matter but will be a teaching point for CKS. CKS hates when a PR doesn't fair catch the ball. As MMews found out on the punt he didn't catch that bounced down to the 5. Nice to have some healthier RB's and the OL starting to play better. But… -
Re: How Justice Haynes decision reshapes outlook for Georgia football running back room
The misses among skill players in 2023 -- WR, QB, RB -- are mounting. All eight of the top 75 players that have either committed to Georgia or that we have a better than 20 percent chance of signing (per On3.com) are defenders. Just as concerning, I don't see any of the top-talent O lineman (other than Bo Hughley) headed… -
Re: Georgia marches on without Manning and questions about Kirby Smart quarterbacks
Oh wow. I realize that High School stats are really often apples-oranges based on the team and who they play, but compare these: Manning: (Junior) 61% Completion for 1,371 Yards | 17 TD to 4 INT | 105.8 QB Rating Gunner Stockton: (Junior) 67% Completion for 3,128 Yards | 45 TD to 4 INT | 133.5 QB Rating (Senior) 71 %… -
Re: Kirby Smart shares plan with Georgia football transfers coming and some soon to be going
@thadec Burton's stock definitely dropped since he transferred from Georgia. Last February, WalterFootball rated him the #10 WR in the '23 draft; now they put him at #16. Preseason, NFLDraftBuzz expected him to be "an easy first-round selection"; now, nobody's talking about Burton going in the first round. Nobody said… -
Re: Kirk Herbstreit: Concerns for Georgia against TCU, but Kirby Smart ‘now the standard’
@Spdawg While the transitive property doesn't apply to college football: UGA 42 Ohio State 41 (with a missed field goal). Michigan 45 Ohio State 23. TCU 51 Michigan 45. Now I am sorry, but South Carolina, Mississippi State and other "midlevel SEC teams" don't defeat undefeated Big 10 champions in a playoff after a month to… -
Re: WATCH: A case for Kirby Smart to get Coach of the Year consideration
Good article Mike. I sincerely believe UGA’s offense is better than most fans realize, but has had a terrible time for 3 reasons: First, we all know the insane situation with losing so many wide receivers and 2 TEs...also injuries with the remaining players. Second, your point is well taken regarding 5 of our last 6… -
Re: Greg McGarity- How long should we accept mediocrity?
They really don't go hand in hand. Stanford wins it every year because they fund EVERY sport that qualifies for the rankings. They get to take their top 20. Back in 1998 (when I was a student)... we only had 20 scholarship sports. I think we're up to 22 or 23 now... but Stanford has 34. They get to toss out their 14 worst… -
Re: Is using "we" acceptable when talking about a sports team?
A lot of viewpoints out there is "I attended the school so I can say "we"." I never planned to go to college and didn't try very hard in school but my parents asked me to do one year of school before I joined the military. Both the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were in full swing thing so they were nervous. Anyways I went…
