THe continuous running of the play clock for most of the game IMO puts a damper on trying to establish the run. RUnning on 1st and 2nd downs eats up clock, especially if it's to no avail as in 3rd and long. Of course it's great if you are having success with it you can wear onthe other team and set up explosive plays in the passing game.
Too often last season we tried to establish the run and found out we couldn't and before you know it we're 3 and out, and we finish the 1st half with only 3 possessions. That and we couldn't get off the feld on 3rd down in some big games.
We just have to be able to move the sticks and be exlosive! Go with what's working for you. LAst season we would generally get going in the passing game whenthe run game wasn't doing much, only for Bobo to slow down the momentum by going back to the run and kill the drive.

It seems to me Gunner also needs lots of game reps- he doesn't have a ton.

exactly. Need to get back to imposing our will early and get those backups plenty of reps. Haven’t had that in 2 years.

Yep. This one better be over by the end of first quarter….middle of the second at the latest. If we aren't up by at least 24 points at halftime it will be a bad sign.

i want Puglisi taking snaps in the third quarter. If Gunner has to play into the 4th it’s the same old same old with Bobo and/or the doubts about Gunner will be intensified.

This isnt the Randy Moss or Byron Leftwich Marshall. This is a bad football team.
First drive let's establish the run. Get Frazier going. No fumbles please. Subsequent drives get the play action game going. Maybe some RPO with Gunner and some straight drop backs taking shots downfield.
Defense give them the boa constrictor treatment. Wrap around em tight from the first snap and squeeze.
Ideally we have a big rushing day. Gunner gets his when the opportunity is there. Defense pitches a shutout. No injuries.

I think our running game will be good this year, but even with that consideration too low on the yardage imo. Gunner should get above 3500 yds for his first full year being the starter. He's a baller. I don't think the DawgNation respects his abilities yet.
