Yes...the worst officiating I have ever seen by a mile. Even the commentators were baffled. Teams from GA don’t seem to get much help from the refs in Championship games in 2018.

Yeah you're right. It would've been really cool for the Dawgs to win it all this year being that Kirbys HS won a natty and VSU did also.

Back when Kirby was at Valdosta State Northern Alabama had a Dynasty and would always beat some truly outstanding Valdosta St. teams for the Championship in that Division. Cant remember how many times they stopped Valdosta State but it was 1 too many for me.

Bobby Wallace was the coach of that UNA squad during that era. They were unbelievable. A couple of them made it to the league and stayed awhile. He's now the AD at U of West Alabama, who sent Malcolm Butler to the league as well as Tyrique Hill (who was on loan from OK St.)

    Isn't that the truth.

Didn't they call pass interference? The most obvious pass interference ever? Then, didn't the officials on the field say it wasn't pass interference? Not a review, just a cancelled flag, right?

There was still plenty of good football to like.

Yesterday's games were very entertaining. Plus, in the games I cared about, the good guys won.

    Go, Dawgs!

  • Blatant holding throughout the game by Ferris State especially the last 10 minutes of the game. Seems the only penalties called were unsportsmanlike conduct on the Blazers. Won in spite of the very obvious non calls and flags that were picked up

Congrats to Valdosta State University on the 2018 D2 national championship!

    A few fun facts:

    1. They were picked in the preseason to finish 5th in their conference. (So this was a heckuva season.)
    2. In the championship game, Valdosta was led by QB Rogan Wells, who threw for 349 yards and 5 TD's. He's from Fort Mill, SC, is only a sophomore, and was unrated by the recruiting services.
    3. Their opponent, Ferris St. (located in Michigan), was led by QB Jayru Campbell, winner of the Harlon Hill trophy (D2's Heisman).
    4. Valdosta is coached by Kerwin Bell, the once-great QB for the Florida Gators (SEC player of the year in 1984, 1st team All-SEC in 1985, and All-American (honorable mention) in 1986.
    5. Valdosta's roster includes 55 players from Florida, 46 players from Georgia, five from SC, two each from Alabama, Pennsylvania, and NY, and one each from Tennessee, NC, Ohio, and... Nigeria!

Well done Blazers, and congrats to all their fans.
