Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

If you don’t respect our flag, our national anthem, please feel free to move to Venezuela,Cuba, Russia, or any other communist countries and stay there.

What brings this topic up on this forum?
The ole miss b-ball article
The song is just that a song that had racist lyrics in it.a song that talked about killing black slaves.
Not exactly true. At best, it’s referring to hired foreign soldiers fighting for the British against America, something that makes them salves of the British. At worst, it’s anger directed at runaway slaves fighting for the British. But this is 2019, and the Ole Miss BB players are not subject to slavery. Respect the flag.

yes, THIS is why people come to this forum!
Descent is good for a democracy. If only people like the OP were allowed a voice this country would have more in common with NAZI Germany than a truly free country.
If you want to protest, be our guest, just don't cross the line into preaching violence or becoming an enemy of what we stand for.
Standing for a flag is not the same thing as standing for what that flag should stand for.
Why I come to the forum is I like it when some individual people run around trying to tell everyone else what they can and can not talk about.
Are you fine with pro-confederate folks marching around the Ole Miss campus? No or yes, it is free speech. Kneeling is also a peaceful protest using free speech.
I come to this forum for the same reason i turn on espn. Sports. If you want to discuss the anthem controversies, learn to use **** reddit like everyone else
Number of F’s given about people like Colin Kaepernick?
At least those kids at Ole Miss had something legitimate to protest going on right down the street. Could they have handled it differently or chosen a different manner of protest? Sure, but it’s not like they had a long time to develop a message.
Let’s see how far they take this before condemning them to hell.
“Standing for a flag is not the same thing as standing for what that flag should stand for.”
Ummm, actually it is. Matter of opinion, but that’s exactly what it is in my book.
The anger of the OP and others sharing his upset over this one event is focused on the wrong group of protestors here. I can let the thing in Oxford slide given the supremacist activity nearby. as long as they dont try to say that very small minority of people requires them to continue kneeling. They protested the protestors. Be done with it.
Well... interesting way to start my morning
They have the right to kneel if they chose. Those who do have to suffer any consequences because of it, as others have the right to disagree with that form of protest or dissent. We must all remember that this Republic we live in was built on dissent.
Sad day when people interpret our national anthem as racist, but that is the state of our country today where everything is about race and not people.
