Ever since Vince Dooley retired at the University of Georgia, there has been support to have the legendary coach’s name placed on the football stadium. That honor will finally happen at UGA’s first home game of the season on Sept. 7, as the playing surface will officially be named “Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium.”

Long, long overdue. The pea brained former president of the university should have been removed from his job, not Coach Dooley from AD.

Football is a team sport. All other UGA sports are also team sports, even when the sport is normally an individual sport, just because all the individuals competing are competing also as a team. So when a player wins an honor like the Heisman Trophy, or a championship in an individual sport, they were aided in that by their teammates who, in the case of team sports, played with them, or in the case of an individual sport, challenged them in practice. The same is true of being a coach or AD. Coach Dooley knows this, and appropriately recognizes those who were part of his "teams' through the years. Just one of the many reasons I have such esteem for him.

UGA, the board of regents, past presidents and anyone else I may be leaving out should all be totally ashamed. There is not a former coach or AD in the country who has been a better ambassador for any university than this man. In addition, there is no person who will ever represent this university with more humility and class than Vince Dooley! Thank you for everything Coach! Now get a **** statue of Herschel at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium! Go Dawgs!

What I meant to say is this should have been done long, long ago! Go Dawgs!

Too bad an outhouse from the 1800s wasn't preserved on campus. It could be named for Michael Adams. A regular commode would be too classy! Adams' treatment of AD Dooley may have been the ugliest episode in UGA history.

Congratulations Coach Dooley! Long overdue. It's men like you who make me proud to be a Bulldog.

Great honor to an outstanding coach. Dooley and Erk together were a great pair.
