Bill, your comments are on target.

Thanks for quoting J. R. Reed. His recognition of work needing to be done (and fast) means our team probably has its head screwed on straight. He's right. We must to continue working towards a very high standard.

Are we there yet? Absolutely no!. If we're trying to move in the right direction instead of admiring our work I'm good.

I look forward to a more celebratory article next weekend, Bill.

    Go, Dawgs!

@Dawgsandbones4life "I hope that Fromm and Swift have their coming out party to the point that college football “experts” will have no choice but to talk about their greatness for the rest of the season!"

That would be nice, Dawgsandbones4life, but I'm sorry to say that I can't see it happening. If Georgia wins (as is probable), those "experts" will just say the same sorts of things that y'all said about us last year after Clemson stomped us about as badly as it later stomped Alabama.

When your Auburn game rolls around in November, we'll hear stuff like "Georgia beating a perennially overrated Notre Dame team doesn't prove a thing. And who else has it played? Florida? Puh-leease. Auburn is a 7-2 team, of course, and Georgia is undefeated, but Auburn has played all those SEC West teams. Georgia's best wins are a one-loss Notre Dame with a weak schedule and a two-loss Florida. Auburn by 12."

Like it or not, Georgia and Notre Dame are in the same boat. If we win, it's because the other team isn't as good as everyone said. If we lose, then we aren't as good as everyone said. Only way to prove otherwise is to beat Alabama or Clemson — while they're still hot.

Best of luck this Saturday. I hope neither of us have any more injuries going in, and I hope we both play our best. Beyond that, folks are gonna say what they're gonna say, and the only thing that matters is what happens on the field.

  • This will be a game of execution--exploiting mismatches---getting big plays--forcing turnovers--sharp play calling and adjustments. ND has seen many bright lights and big games...and they do it each season.

Talented programs like Michigan-LSU-USC-Texas-Stanford-Clemson-FSU are nothing new for ND coaches and players

ND has a combination of a good QB and a good defense---and the three teams that UGA played last season that had that dual combination beat Georgia---LSU-Bama & Texas.

This will be a very good and hard fought game...and anyone who doesn't think so is in for a surprise on Saturday Nite.

UGA has execution issues and young and inexperienced players---they are far from the NE Patriots.

ND will show up and play hard and smart football for 60 minutes...been that way for 132 seasons.

Mookie Blaylock was a special player, so is his son. I am sticking with this pick...Dominick Blaylock is going to very special for UGA for three years!

A tip of the hat to Coach Anderson for electing to go for the first down on 4th and 5 at the UGA 13 yd line with just over 6.5 minutes left. He could have easily sent the FG team on to break up the shutout, however he elected to try for the pass that Cine intercepted. The only thing a FG would have done was prevented the shutout. However it was a classy move for Anderson to not settle for the FG and try for a TD instead. Best of luck to the Red Wolves on the remainder of their season.

Yeah, with our O-line, 3rd downs should almost be a gimmie: I didn't realize our 3rd down conversion Saturday was so low.

That being said, it's easy to nitpick playing against easy teams. The key is that we did a heck of a lot better (at least in my mind) both starting the game (ie: 7-7 vs Murray State at end of 1st Q) as well as finishing the game (ie: 9-6 over Vandy after 1st 3 TDs).

I think the "warmup" season was well worth it even if it means we have no room for error for the rest of the season.

According to FPI, Notre Dame represents our 2nd toughest game of the year (67% chance of winning: toughest being Auburn at less than 56%).

    Go Dawgs!
