I do believe that it has been a case of arrogance by Coach Smart, running the inside on 1st and second downs for the past two years......Even Vanderbilt stacked th e inside box with 7-8 players......The worst part of Coach Smart's offensive strategy has been the lack of the development of All receivers.. Included the tight ends. We just lost the number #1 TE. In the Country(from Atl.) Because of this uncreative offense....If I ha d a son of top flight TE ability, I would not send him to my alumni school.....95% of time he would only be a blocker.

I agree...the runs up the middle are what ultimately kept Alabama in the NC game...with the missed calls, we just could not get 1st downs when it counted.

As with offense, I think one of the reasons we don't have an elite DL is because our scheme caters more to LBs (we have so much talent there). As you say, if I had a son of top DL ability, I'd want him to go somewhere he could shine instead of the LBs getting the focus.

I'm no expert, but that's what I see.
