imageWATCH: Texas A&M linebacker clapped to cause UGA’s bad snap

As always, there were a few controversial officiating calls in the UGA-Texas A&M game on Saturday. UGA was a victim of a no-call at the end of the first quarter, when the Bulldogs had third down near the 50-yard line. What you saw on TV: UGA quarterback Jake Fromm was in shotgun formation, and received snap from

It is just part of the game. But that is unfortunate and it should be unacceptable. The A&M LB clapping to simulate a snap should be unacceptable.

The Ga DB's were obviously coached to grab the receivers during their routes. Haven't noticed them doing much of that before this game.

Smart made a few comments during the week about his receivers being grabbed during the Auburn game, and they were on almost play. Auburn was called for PI only once that I can remember.

What choice does any coach have. As long as the SEC officials are going to allow DB's to get away with PI and holding, they will have to coach their players to do it.

The fake injuries, PI on almost every play and false claps take away from the game. That is on the officials.

What choice do the coaches have?

The way the refs let the DB's play, it would be foolish not to grab if you need to.

I knew I heard a clap before the snap but they never showed a replay in real time with the sound, only slow motion of the bad snap. That was a really unsportsmanlike move on their part. I agree that we got away with a couple of PI penalties in the game but the refs aren’t calling it. Our receivers were getting held on every play last week against the barn. Finally huge kudos to Swift, not just for his running but the reception he made towards the end of the fourth quarter sealed the game for the Dogs. P.S. I was glad to see Swift fussing at Fromm for changing the play to run right into a blitz. Someone needs to hold him accountable because it doesn’t seem like the coaches are.
