Hopefully Coley and Luke will cooperate with each other to improve our offense.

I am on a different path here.......If we schemed so aggressively against LSU and did not execute....why did we ignore this same game plan against others, rather than limping across the goal line game after game depending on Hot Rod to win?? Was Coley on Red Bull just for LSU? I am a simple person. I don't get what UGA is thinking at times. You know what? I believe hiring Matt Luke will rectify some of these questions bedeviling the offense. This guy was a solid head coach and can teach Coley and Smart a lot about setting up a much more effective dual attack system. He sat under some of the best. UGA needs to do something. Just maybe Luke can make a difference. Elsewise 2020 Commit Rosemy will need a nail file at wide receiver.

Players and plays go hand in hand. I believe cook was under utilized. Kirby said it himself about LSU RB, he's a matchup nightmare. So Swift or Cook not a matchup nightmare within the passing game?

Okay, receivers couldn't beat man coverage. Coaches knew this early on in the season. Seemed they never schemed to beat man coverage. Such as rub routes, crossing routes, etc.. So keep drinking the Kool aid and listening to the coaches speak.

The best play calling we had all year was the SECCG, which there was poor execution. It leads me to believe there is hope, I'll just wait and see before I get excited. Running a spread offense without a QB with just a little bit of mobility will not work. Fromm's lack of ability to pull the ball and run will always be a liability in this offensive play style.

Until we do something, this is all just more "blah, blah, blah," in my opinion. I'm 100 percent on board with @MontanaDawg. We've been close but to me, Kirby ain't getting $7 million-plus to get close. The fact that Alabama, Clemson, and Oklahoma repeatedly make the CFP playoffs proves that it can be done and with all of these great recruiting classes UGA continually racks up, I really don't understand why we aren't in that group. And I like Matt Luke (or at least what I've heard about Matt Luke) as much as anyone. But this idea that he's going to come in and we're going to be so much better on the offensive side of the ball because he's now in the room, is far-fetched. CKS is too stubborn to really listen to anyone. He's going to do it his way come hell or high water. Want proof? If he was REALLY going to change, we would have a new OC in place by now. Look around college football. Texas fell flat this year and Tom Herman cleaned house on his staff. Notre Dame had a very good year and Brian Kelley still fired his OC. And last year, after a pretty good (but not championship) season, Ed Ogeron said, "we need to change," and he went and hired Joe Brady. My point is, good teams looking to become great teams don't stand still. Like the TV commercial says, "Just OK really isn't OK." Go Dawgs!

Going into this season, there was reason to believe we had a superior offensive line and would be able to dicate the tempo in every game of the season. With a three year starter at qb and a Heisman caliber running back, it looked like we had a leg up on most of tge teams in the country. "Alas and alack," that O-line did not show up and we still won the East. Never have been a coach so no point in commenting on what I would have done. 11-2, nothing to really complain about.

It was the most miserable 11 win season ever. All because of the offense was completely inept and underutilized our highly regarded talent. Dawg Nation wants playoff wins. Being satisfied with 11 meaningless wins is how you get late Mark Richt era teams. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

Sorry DallasDawg...you make good points, you and very savvy MontanaDawg, but I disagree about Luke. Smart saw the opportunity in this guy....Ole Miss didn't and the fans got him booted...too soon. He has a solid resume' on both sides of the ball but mainly offense. I just have a gut feel he will be able to impact Smart enough to make some needed...immediate...changes for the better. Like a balanced attack. Smart said he saw and liked UGA's new look against LSU...just needed top talent to execute. Guys in arm slings, shoulder harnesses, hand braces and crutches won't get it done. My goodness, have never seen such a banged-up team? UGA needs to work off the play book at the SECCG. Get these new recruits thinking beyond Pro Play. There is an exciting football world out there CKS needs to really tap into.. Saban did.

For the 3 people that voted this comment down, maybe you can tell me what the alternate channel was?? Or tell me which 'explosive' plays you're referring to???

"Players not Plays" pretty much sums up Kirby's offensive philosophy. The staff is all about recruiting, but they don't have an elite coach who can scheme up the players for success on that side of the ball. I wasn't a huge fan of Jim Chaney, but at least he was an experienced play caller and quarterback mentor. When he and Jay Johnston left the staff, they didn't bring in anyone of equal capability to replace them, but just promoted a recruiter already on staff to the top position (Coley is an excellent recruiter by the way, but not a play caller with a good track record). The results this past season speak for themselves - an ok season, but clearly not maximizing the offensive talent that was on the roster. It's a little disheartening, that at least publicly Kirby has not acknowledged that major changes are needed on the offensive side of the ball.

LSU is probably going to win the title, then they are going to lose the Heisman winning QB and if their fans are like ours they will be calling for Coach O's head at the end of next season.

Do you want to fire Kirby? Who do you want to make the changes you want? Do you think Kirby wants to win less than you do?

My thoughts sit back let Kirby do what he and his staff think is best and it will play out one way or the other.

Did you see the LSU QB. Let's see LSU's genius OC work with out him next season, I think there will be a substantial drop off and BAMA will be back in Atlanta next December and I think we will be there waiting on them.

I will agree with most of you, Kirby is stuborn and all your complaining and great insite will not change him one bit.

I am the last person to excuse rock-headed Kirby Smart BUT..... let's be careful about the baby + bath-water trends with respect to the UGA offense, based on the LSU shellacking. Change two aspects of that game: (A) The 5-6 balls that could have, and should have, been caught - including the bold first play pass that would have jolted the stadium, and (B) The open receivers that Jake Fromm legitimately missed - passes that also could have, and should have, been completed. Re-draw that game with those two things corrected and what's the score? For good measure, add in a certain safety having a sure interception go through his hands in the end zone. Does UGA win that game? Maybe, maybe not. But it's far from certain. UGA route-running is poor (basic concepts) and Jake Fromm has lost track of his fundamentals at key points (what effect do the drops have on him pressing - only he can tell us that - but his strength is his football brain and his solid fundamentals - he can't function at a high level w/o either). Those things have to be corrected. So maybe throw out the bath water and keep the baby, let it grow a little, and teach it a bit better. Just a thought.

    OMG!!

I so disagree with so many of you that mention firing the head coach and overstating an obvious deficiency at certain positions that was known before the first game. It doesnt matter if you had the best O-Line in the NFL. If you have basically very little in the way of a downfield threat that has huge implications on your run game and vice versa. Offense as well as defence is all a concerted effort by several position players. You can't fake that against really good teams. I knew early in the season even when we were blowing teams out this wasn't a team near as filled out as 17 or 18. I just didn't see what the preseason media were hyping. Defense lived up but in today's game you can't ride that like 92 Alabama.

UGA got beat soundly by the best LSU team I've seen in my 52 years on this earth. Led by a QB that played lights out all year. They rocked right on against us just like they did every team on the schedule. UGA played the SEC championship pretty much like we did all year. We had enough to get there but that's it.

I hope i get the next HC position at UGA because I'm going to hire every one of you and we can go 0-12 together. Knowies.

Some of you good people are dolts when it comes to understanding football

it (the offense) changed this past season...… It Changed For The Worse

It changed twice in 2017 the start of the season when Cooley was handed play calling duty until LSU whooped up on us and showed his joke of a system don't work and CKS handed play calling back to Chaney …… Fans loved that offense right till the LSU game …. Fans loved this seasons offense till we ran into tougher teams where 6 end-arounds and another 5 WR screens and a few passes in the flats just don't cut it

Some of the issue is also at QB, Cooleys offense leaves the QB with multiple WR options where Fromm constantly like to throw a 7-10 yard pass into the flats and at times that has left WRs running open deep in the middle of the field who are on deep post or go routs deep on the sideline

This is not the ultra conservative offense Chaney ran , this is not the power first balanced offense Bobo ran under CMR , this is not even as good a system as Schottenhimer used …… This current system under Cooley is a joke it was a joke at FL St it was a joke when he started calling plays at UGA and it will be a joke if he is still the OC next season. UGA has enough talent to cover up many gaffs a play caller makes on offense or defense even that a head coach makes however against other teams with near or equal talent you just can not lag this far behind in an area of coaching and hope to win
