3 reasons Georgia's offense will change this offseason
ATHENS — Georgia’s offense is in for some offseason changes, but there’s no way to know exactly how big or what it might look like. What we do know is that the philosophy won’t change much — if at all — under Coach Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs are going to be balanced, be able to run the ball when necessary, prioritize

It’s laughable at best to assume LSU was More loader with talent than Uga. In fact, Jake was the one with the hype train. Not Joe Burrow. Burrow was considered a game manager much like Fromm. But the influx of a new play caller for the tigers made for an explosive offense and turned a “game manage” who had absolutely 0 Heisman hype surround him into the greatest qb to ever buckle a chin strap!
X’s and O’s Not jimmys and joes!
I'm a big Fromm fan, but if we get the same Fromm next year, little will change, even worse, less playmakers. Biggest improvement may be OL. Run blocking was awol last year
“You have an offense that’s built around the players you have,” Smart said. “
So ,if Fromm returns the O stays the same ?
Rosemy is a perfect addition. Arian Smith and Washington are must gets for this offense. If those three commit to the G, they will get a ton of playing time in 2020 once they learn the playbook. Praying they make the right decision.
Go Dawgs-GATA on the recruiting trail!
'and look to make explosive plays' & 'That’s exactly what the Bulldogs did this season. It led to another Top 5 ranking, complete with three wins over Top 15 teams.'

What channel did you watch UGA's alternate season on?
In the last 2 years, we have not scored 30 points in any game against Auburn, Alabama, or LSU. Here are my biggest questions:
-- Have Fromm's footwork or other fundamentals degraded significantly, and, if so, do we have coaching gaps (by this I mean a lack of a coordinator or other assistant) that need to be addressed to rectify that decline?
-- Do we have any other coaching gaps that may have hurt offensive production?
-- If we have assistants and coordinators in all the appropriate slots, does the lack of on-field production indicate that we may be getting ineffective work from any of those coaches?
-- Fromm has the discretion to shift us into different plays based on coverage. Is there any indication that the better opposing defenses we've seen have been able to expect what shifts he generally makes and stuff plays accordingly?
-- Considering all of our offensive talent, is the lack in the receiver room really enough to explain the lack of production over the last 2 years?
'Some crow Georgia needs to emulate offenses at LSU and Alabama, but those in tune recognize UGA (or any program) needs the same sort of talent those programs have in the receivers room to replicate the same sort of success.'
Mike
Georgia will never recruit the WR position like 'those other programs' as long as they are a run-heavy offense.
'Luke, who has worked with some of the most noted offensive minds and coordinators in the coaching profession, from Phillip Fulmer, to David Cutcliffe, Hugh Freeze and Rich Rodriguez, will be instrumental as a position coach and contributor in brainstorming sessions.' Coley and Luke will work closely together during offseason modifications to the Bulldogs’ base offensive package around the team’s skill position talent and quarterback’s ability.'
Mike
I agree with you on Cutcliffe, & I hope you're right about the 'brainstorming', but you're starting to sound like Gary Danielson.
After Fromm's season he really doesn't have a reason to leave early for the NFL. Hopefully he will bounce back as a senior.
I think Fromm returning is the single most critical piece to the puzzle because we have no good options if he declares for the NFL. Also, the addition of Matt Luke is HUGE!!! I loved Pittman, but I don’t think he contributed much beyond being an awesome recruiter and a really fun guy. Luke is considered a very good recruiter and a great guy who is loved by his players, but Luke also adds light years more experience and offensive skills. Pittman had arguably the best talent in the country thanks to great recruiting, but I really didn’t think our line overwhelmed anyone. It will be interesting to see how Luke performs with the same level of talent. Go Dawgs!!!
Uhhhhh...... are you denying that UGA is #5 and has three wins over Top 15 teams? If so, what alternate universe do you live in?
I'm sorry, but 35-7 over 3 seasons is obviously not good enough. Close is only adequate in horseshoes and hand grenades, but it seems as if just appearing ONCE in the playoffs since its inception is good enough for many fans and writers.
REALLY???
It shouldn't be good enough when that's falling short of Kirby's stated goal.
White has yet to prove his worth, and Fromm's best days are behind him. Offensive balance is important, but we can't continue to be such a run-heavy, run-first offense in today's age of wide open, higher scoring teams. We need to evolve, and even Saban learned that and changed his offensive style.
We open up 2020 with Virginia and then play Bama in Tuscaloosa 2 weeks later. We've got a LOT of work to do.
GO DAWGS!
Players over plays is the dumbest excuse to not utilize 5 star talent in space. Look at Washington State. They lead the league in passing with backup QB scrubs because they design to scheme guys open and attack weak points on the defense. And they cant recruit anybody. The scheme is important! Think about what we could do if we actually utilized blue chip offensive talent and put the ball in their hands so they can leverage their athleticism advantage. Distribute the ball to 5 star talent into space. Instead, we just run our purebred horses against 8 man boxes like it's 1950.
The offense better get more explosive or else face the threat of the fans turning on the team. Virginia opener is going to tell us everything we need to know. If we see a bunch of interior runs against a brick wall and an incompetent passing game, the team will get booed. If we don't see an explosive offense in the Virginia game, fans are going to be a lot less invested because 2019 was the most un-fun 11 win season I can remember. All because of the dreadful offense scheme which negates our talent.
"Georgia will never recruit the WR position like 'those other programs' as long as they are a run-heavy offense."
LSU somehow managed to. Before they got Burrow and Brady, they got Chase and a few others. At the same time BAMA got Tua, they got Jerry Jeudy. That is, before they changed offensively to more of a passing attack, which has evolved during their time there.
Wash St. has 3 Sr's 1 Jr. among their top 4 wide receivers... UGA got hammered with the early exits last year and then injuries on top of that. Had a full cupboard end of regular season but suddenly all the defections. Good recruiting with Pickins and Blaylock but you dont get that 5* production in year 1. Move on!
There is at least one Poet who doesn't know it on here.
Keep doing what we are doing and we will get there. Yes very frustrating watching our offense this year, but I am confident it will improve. Going to have another top 5 class and if I am not wrong our current team is one of the youngest in the league.
My guess is Fromm is returning and I bet the coaches already know his decision. A forth year starter in Fromm is probably better than 98% of the other teams in the country.
Reading a great many of these post and I am just waiting of he Fire Kirby to come out. Probably the same posters that wanted Fromm over Eason before Fromm even stepped on the field, and are now saying we let the true best QB go in Fields.
Some people just like to complain.
I am very thankful I got to watch us in the last 3 SEC chamionships and one NC game. Was disappointed and frustrated with the outcomes, but in order to get to the Championship whether SEC or National you have to risk disappointment.
We will eventually cross the line. Do you not think we are closer to the finish that we were before Kirby took over.
Would you rather be FLA, Auburn, Tenn, or countless other SEC schools.
Need to show up and beat Baylor and then start getting ready for BAMA.
