imageWATCH: Kirby Smart vague on Georgia coaching changes, denies interest in Mike Bobo

ATHENS — Georgia football coach Kirby Smart was intentionally vague when it came to questions about coaching changes and potential player attrition at his Wednesday press conference. Smart, finishing up his fourth season and headed to a second consecutive Sugar Bowl with the No. 5-ranked Bulldogs, said the fluid

CKS is a fool if he is not looking for a new offensive coach of Bobo level

Now if one becomes available ….. That's a whole other story

Will we have enough players to field a team,???LOLOLOL Maybe borrow some from Baylor. All kidding aside, UGA will be hurting on the front line but it will give understudies a chance to shine.

CKS is fast friends with Coley...we better get used to it.

It was a good signing day. We nailed down almost everyone and grabbed 2 additional 4-star WRs. No mass OL attrition due to the loss of Pittman and good signs overall. Keep in mind that we are talking about a 4th ranked class with tied for the highest average with Clemson. If I were Smart, I'd tell Fromm this - we've got the 7th, 8th and 14th best WRs signed. Lets get a quality play-caller on Offense and really open things up. Fromm needs to stay another year and get a better deal for the NFL. I'd like to see Fromm and Beck compete heavily and give him a solid chance.

The  opening we had opening we had was for an offensive line coach. Would Bobo have fit that opening?  And would he be the person to keep our offensive line commits from defecting after Pittman left? I would guess no on both points. And if we were going to fire or demote Coley to make room for Bobo after 1 year (which we would have to do to stay under the required NCAA cap on assistants), what does that say about the way we treat our assistants? Bobo wouldn't have come for a lesser job, after all. Some fans might be screaming for a change, but that sort of rapid hire/fire or hire/demote would have real consequences the next the next time we want to fill a vacancy. And if we  have the have the kind of success fans want, that need to replace someone will happen sooner rather than later.

I remember a lot of fans wanting to run Bobo out of Athens. Even after UGA was setting offensive records. Now, he's wanted?

Oh yes, I remember the Bobo days....."Throw the bum out." Now we hear, throw a different bum out...Coley. Every coaching staff has its "bum(s)" as it were. Some rationale is justified, but a lot is knee-jerk reaction and emotion. Coley showed a bit more versatility against LSU....just no one to execute it. If he continues down this road we would be able to better utilize the fleet of new WRs and not find them crowding one another heading for the transfer portal. One caveat: QB? Another: who will develop these new recruits? I think it was signee WR Arian Smith who said he trusted UGA coaches to train him into a top NFL prospect!!!!!!! What does that tell you?
