That all sounds good. Haven't decided on my end. Probably depends on who ends up wearing the apron (my dad, my brother, or me).
A salad on Eve as it's just the pup an I.
Christmas day I'll be fixin a chilled salmon salad w/California walnuts as an appetizer. Then BBQ'd pork chops, rice pilaf w/California smokehouse almonds, scalloped potatoes, steamed asparagus and corn bread for the kids. For desert I'll have made a bach of ice cream sandwiches (peppermint & Maplenut ice cream with seven layer cookies)
Then after they've all left gonna take the pup for a long stroll through the Cosumnes River nature preserve here on the Delta. We're bout an hour North of the Milton's here in Sacramento. NorCal rocks!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!! Dawgs rule!
Man, that's a different way to go and not my style, but it sounds good and it's an impressive menu (are you a chef or a food writer?).
I really like the personal color you provided as well. Merry Christmas Dallas!
Got the Turkey breast and Apple wood ready to smoke tomorrow. Have cook from frozen turkey breast in the freezer in case I UF up the smoking 🤣
Thx, not a chef but I take cooking classes too try an expand my knowledge on the stove.
There's a full and varied plethora of food styles out here. It's one of the great things about this place. Now if I wasn't a 5+ hr flight from Athens it'd be perfect... lol
A very Merry Christmas too you an yours!!
Luckily I’m doing a few vegetable sides, but I’m cooking brunch as well. I don’t know why it can be so stressful being forced to be with family, but I’m going to drink a lot of mimosas while I cook.
I'm eating at WCDawg's house this Christmas. If I walk in to the smell of honey BBQ'd human flesh then I'm getting TF out of there and calling the mods ASAP
We are having a Feast of the Seven Fishes for Christmas Eve. Shrimp, scallops, clams, oysters, blue crab, conch and mahi sauteed in garlic, onion olive oil and served over zuchinni spirals and angel hair pasta. Christmas will be roast horesradish encrusted beef tenderloin with garlic potatoes and green bean casserole.
Check out the mad Max turkey method. I've used several times and it's the only way I'll smoke one in the future
If that happens I'd be a little concerned that the mods were already there!
Cooking a Kentucky Country ham in a blanket like Grandma used to. Sweet tater casserole, collard greens, green beans and a Hash Brown casserole. Few other veggies and a good Pinot Noir. Pecan pie for dessert. Yall come on up.
No pork where I live, so we’re roasting a whole 4.3kg beef ribeye. Had to cut it in half, though, to fit in a package from the butcher.
Merry Christmas to all from our home on the (red and) Black Sea!
That is almost 10 lbs of beef! And it's all ribeye!?! Holy cow! 😆
Merry Christmas to you as well Turk. From the green foothills of Southern Appalachia.
I won't be cooking. Just eating.
Don't know what we're having. I haven't asked. I trust the process. But I know with 99% certainty that it will include rice, beans and tortillas because it always does. And I know with 100% certainty that will be good because it always is.
