Darnell Washington: The TE that got away would like to see him in Athens
Theo Johnson chose Penn State. Not Georgia. So why does he have such high hopes for Darnell Washington and his Jan. 2 decision at the Under Armour All-American Game?

Commit to the G, Mr. Washington! You will fill a huge position of need very well, and join a long list of UGA TEs to show out in the League. Go Dawgs!
Jeff, I appreciate your articles but honestly it feels like you enjoy watching the recruits and speaking with them more than meeting the goal of providing great content in your articles. "Darnell Washington: The elite TE that didn’t choose UGA has a strong opinion about his upcoming decision." What? Am I confused? Doesn't this title indicate he "didn't choose UGA" and therefore signed with another school?! Have you confirmed he didn't choose UGA or not? Take a few seconds, proofread your articles but at MINIMUM-reread your Title before posting it.
In one sentence you state he has made his decision and the next sentence you state that "Washington will make that decision right before the second half of today’s ESPN2 broadcast." Call me crazy but wouldn't it be logical to say Darnell has made his decision since he has already signed with a school and he simply needs to make his announcement?
I'm sorry to be complaining but It too often feels like amateur hour on this site.
Dawg365 - He's talking about Theo Johnson, bc with him being 1 of the other elite TEs that UGA targeted, then he was pointing out how when he was interviewed after committing elsewhere, that he said he understands why UGA doesn't land elite TEs. That should make sense after reading the article, bc he's either interviewing him in ths8i article, or at least sharing quotes of what he said before. Some people thing since UGA hasn't always thrown to their TEs consistently...that can work against them in recruiting elite ones. You may know at least some of this already, but I just said it just in case.
Well said. I was just getting on here to make a comment about both of the recruiting headlines that are up right now.
"Darnell Washington: The elite TE that didn't choose UGA..."
And
"Zachary Evans: Georgia signee..."
That said, it is a free site. So we can't really complain too much.
The biggest mystery to me on this was how this articles -- and some others before it -- have talked about how impressed Theo Johnson was with UGA and its coaches, and how it would be great for Washington to come to UGA (which we now know that he is) and how Washington would be the opening we needed to get other TE prospects to come to UGA to be like him. So my question, Theo, is if you think UGA is all of that, why didn't YOU go ahead and be that guy and come to Georgia. I get what you said about Georgia not having used its TE's like that before, but doesn't that same situation apply to Washington? Yet you say that he should be at UGA and be that groundbreaking tight end. Well, the truth of the matter is that UGA would have taken BOTH of you if they could. So you could have been the very player at UGA that you're talking about Darnell being. I know I'll never get your answer to that, but just curious why a guy who has so much (apparent) love for UGA, didn't decide to come here, but wants other elite prospects to do so.
Darrnell signed to UGA as you now know. Penn State is a big draw for TEs. Johnson figures the NFL will look at State for this slot...so off he went.
