No matter who we bring in we have to learn how to use our weapons more effectively. The proof is in the pudding. Look at the season Mecole is having an NFL. if he can do that in the NFL why couldn't he do that in the SEC playing for us. It's because we didn't know how to use him right. If you look at the defensive side of the ball we have so many play makers that we utilize in different scenarios but when it comes to the offensive side of the ball we're at vanilla as possible. I wish Jake the best. But we have to move on and we have to open up our offense. We have to be able to score points and throw the ball down the middle of the field not just a back shoulder fade

I think an important question to ask is "Why does UGA seem to have an inordinately large number of players leaving via early departure or transfer portal compared to other successful programs?" I know we notice UGA mainly because we follow it so closely, but I live in Clemson country and they do not have this large of a number departing each year. Is there some other underlying thing going on that we do not see? Losing 9 of our starting offense from this year is pretty significant! (granted our offense was often our biggest area of concern this year) I would definitely like to see this number become more minimal in the future.

BTW.....I think it is also important to remember that these are young men/students that chose to represent the University we love and that we should not be so quick to be critical of them individually as a fan base. (The coaches on the other hand is a different story! 😂😂) I am so glad that Jake Fromm chose to flip from Bama to UGA and represent his home state. I just hated seeing so many people critical of him this year. Social media is a blessing and a curse!! Think twice before you bash these young men on these platforms. I will miss watching Jake, Brian, Hot Rod, Tae, and all of the other "Georgia" boys playing for their home school! But, please God, don't let any of them go to the Dallas Cowboys!!!!😂

First year starter John Lastinger (wasn't a great passer) won the sec title and went undefeated through the regular season in 1982 and first year starter DJ Shockley won the sec title in 2005. Both were mobile and courageous. I think the dawgs will be fine if the qb is mobile and fearless and I have no concerns about the defense.

The 97 Tenn Vols was Peyton Manning's last year. They finished 11-2 and ranked 8th in the Coaches poll. Peyton was drafted No.1 and a total of 8 Vols were drafted after that season.

But In 1998, the Vols went undefeated and won the first BCS Championship game. Tee Martin was the QB who led the team. He had completed only 6 passes in 4 games the year before.

Does anybody think Tee Martin is a better QB than Manning? No? So how did he do something Manning couldn't do? My point is the pieces of the puzzle have to line up just right. Nobody expected TN to win a BCS the year after Manning and 7 others were drafted.

We have great known talent and great potential talent on both sides of the ball. I am excited for the Dawgs.

I am impressed with this DawgNation comment thread. It is one of the very best I have read and been a small part of. It is difficult to distill all of the information into a readable format without writing a novella. UGA has to coalesce as a harmonic unit offensively. Coaching does this. All the various functions and parts must fitly join together....as one.. That is the assignment for 2020. It begins with the QB then radiates out to the offense per play called. Execution.... a word I have heard from most of you all season. So, it is up to Kirby and the coaches to formulate game plan and up to the players to execute that plan. UGA has assembled some of the best players to execute the game plan in the SEC. I believe we will see a new "look" on offense with powerful executors...both running and passing. I truly believe this. A new dynamic if you will. One that hopefully will keep the defense off the field and trying win games the offense should win. I am tyring not to be too simplistic. This 2020 UGA player ensemble is going to impress the fans! Kirby has already been working toward completing such a team. To say I am excited is a euphemism. UGA has the machinery to take the SEC East and beyond. GO DAWGS!!!

If this is your view, then you have to include coaches. Whether we like it or not, many players choose a school based on the coach (otherwise why would anybody choose Alabama :) If coaches can have their contracts bought out, maybe a school that accepts a transfer needs to compensate the original school for costs. For myself, I think any player should be granted one unconditional transfer with no penalty.

A mobile qb with a good arm plus a good OC will put UGA among the elite teams.

Jake was more mobile than his stats showed. Granted he certainly didn’t have wheels but I think he was instructed not to scramble. Whenever he did I was concerned about his well being. You know Kirby was because if he got hurt the season was over. No JF or any depth off the bench.
