Am I the only one who has noticed the proliferation of OT and DV lately for no apparent reason. I can understand if a post is abusive but it seems even something like relaying news that is accurate but not good news gets either or both of these. I for UV interesting news even if I don't like the news such as a coach/player leaving as long as it is factual. This doesn't mean I like what is posted, more that I appreciate being made aware of it. I think the situation has got worse since the name(s) have been hidden. Does anyone actually tabulate the number of OT/DV made by contributors? This would identify those that are here merely to disrupt and cause conflict.

That was before we had the upgraded mod force who will put people into timeout.

If you recall, it was only a handful of people who reacted that way, some still do with indirect comments. The others hide behind DVs on peoples post.

I agree. They seem emboldened by knowing it is anonymous and I always look at UV and used to look at DV even for other peoples posts. I actually never responded by retaliating to mine being DV but sort of found comfort in seeing that individual DV'd everyone. In rare instances I would just block those who seemed to only be here to disrupt both in their posts and voting.

Id also just remove the OT button all together or put it under the flag option

The board has grown exponentially since DVs went anonymous, so a ton more people equals a lot more votes in general.

As far as off-topic votes, have you read some of these threads lately? A two year old with ADHD can stay on topic better than some of these threads. Sentell’s thread is currently littered with how tall they and their parents are.

I agree but I find it strange that my first post on this thread has an off-topic vote!!!!!! Smacks of antagonism. Maybe the individual that started the thread should be the only one who can OT a post. After all they started the thread.

Typically the most egregious DVers and OTers are non-contributors to the forum. Fireplugdawg will OT you with a quickness. I wouldn't put much stock in it. If it weren't for 10 certain posters and fat thumbs i'd probably only have 12 DVs 😎

I hide behind DV’s a lot. It’s a lot of fun to watch how triggered some people get. I’m all for putting our names back on it though, even more fun that way. Welcome to the internet

And just to add to topic, the Mods have had nothing to do with the "hiding" aspect of this. This was done done by the admins without any consultation with the Mods.

We only have control on a few aspects of this forum and a we can't control what the Admins place w/o our knowledge.......

Apparently, the mods can identify who casts the Off Topic votes. I've been visiting this forum since Sept. '19 and I've seen only one person "called out"on the forum by a mod for casting an Off Topic vote. That was me that was called out. I don't resent it because I made a mistake that I was unaware of, and I was able to correct it. My point is though, if you are going to call out one, call out everyone or just ignore the whole Off topic thing.
