Rick Beato is a music producer living in Atlanta. He does a lot of videos on YouTube, including a series called "What Makes This Song Great?", where he breaks down all the compositional elements of a song and describes what he likes about them. If you love music, like I do, you'll enjoy Rick's series.
Song - 'Ramble On' by Led Zeppelin

Great breakdown of a great song...thanks for sharing!
I've gone down a few isolated vocals ratholes on YouTube during this quarantine and Plant was one of them.
Loved this one of Mercury & Bowie too...
@Casanova_Flatulence - definitely appreciate this post; not that I understood half of the music theory he went through, but it was really cool and that is a great LZ song.
Great bass line in that song. Big fan of this song and of my interpretation of the meaning, which to me, is more appealing than the music.
Yep. Rick Beato's YouTube videos are fantastic.
'Lost In Vegas' (aka Ryan & George) do great progressive rock song reaction videos. They're a lot of fun to watch.
Here they react to Pneuma by Tool:
Love these guys - particularly their reaction to La Villa Strangiato (Rush)
Love this! Thanks for sharing. It's great to understand better why Zeppelin was great and the later "me too" hair bands were just meh. I could hear it, but never describe the difference.
Zeppelin is my favorite of all time. But so many great songs by so many great artists that bring us back to a time in our lives. Great post Cas.
I grew up with Zeppelin and have listened to each song hundreds of times. Over the years they got played out for me, so I stopped listening to their music. After several years hiatus I've started to listen to some select tunes and it's like starting all over again. I guess greatness never gets old.
I'll check that one out. Their reaction to Alice N Chains is great too.
Not my favorite REM song, but again another great breakdown by Rick.
Not one of my favorites either TBH...but as long as we're on the topic: interested to hear everyone's Top 5 R.E.M. songs:
