Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

College Football Update: States opening equate to flickering lights, promising sign
ATHENS — SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey recently equated states opening back up to the flicker of old fluorescent bulbs as he shed light on the status of college football. “First you see states kinda of looking at turning the lights on,” Sankey said last week on the SEC Network. “It’s like the old fluorescent lights,

It will all depend on how States abide with social distancing WHILE also relaxing some restrictions. If we screw this up and cases spike again (highly likely) then we will be back to lockdown. Georgia's Republican Governor isn't even following Trump's own guidelines for reopening. Crazy. We'll see how that goes...
GO DAWGS and may the season unfold as planned!!
I hope it works out. However can you imagine if a player on bama comes down with it during the season then the entire team would need to be quarantined for 14 days and most likely the team(s) they have recently played would also need to quarantine too. Now imagine if in the same time frame a player for ohio state comes down with the virus too. The season would be over.
People in general can't follow basic guidelines...they half listen to something then think that are experts and go out and drink pool cleaner and buy 50 cases of TP. People struggle to understand the difference between shelter in place (lifting slowly) and social distancing (not going anywhere for awhile) as well as their responsibilities to contribute to public health. So yeah, we are going to screw this up...
EXACTLY MontanaDawg! Roll of the dice to open Georgia up now. If it works...great. If it doesn't and cases spike, college football isn't starting in September. I understand the reasons for wanting to open, but it's like betting on a roulette wheel. Stay safe.
I agree with you @rxmaster . We'll screw this up because we Americans, moreso than any other country, feel that we can do whatever we want, whenever we want, regardless of the circumstances and who it might hurt in the process. It's ALL ABOUT US. Most Americans alive now would not have survived the Great Depression or WWII, when cutting back and doing without was the order of the day. And those people were true patriots who WILLINGLY suffered with pride and passion because they knew that doing so would eventually bring about a greater good for everyone.
I don't like to see politics rear its **** head here. Trump has guidelines but discretion is left to the governors...he made that clear. Football will not take to the field again until UGA is open and students fill the seats. SEC Commissioner Sankey is on top of this. The parameters will be established at that time. Nothing will be rushed. This pandemic is no fluke. Our country is at stake...not just our universities. No one wants to see a reflex response of COVID-19. The Hedges will still there waiting for the roar of rabid Dawg fans. It will happen....when it does....will hopefully be the perfect timing.
