The word came from slavery. Sooooooo... Kinda tone deaf of you.
But go ahead say the word all you want. What happens afterwards is up to whom hears it.
But in the grand scheme your logic is the dumbest thing Ive ever heard. If a teacher heard kids saying curse words or the N-Word they dont repeat it back to the kid. 🙄 ... Man o man the times we live in now.
Folks, we have a topic here regarding a certain coach, at a certain university and issues that they may or may not be dealing with. Let's keep it on topic regarding this including our own Mods.
But to stay on topic here, I agree with Kasey and others. Dabo will spin this (and there are mitigating circumstances). It would be better, from a player PR perspective, if he wasn't tepid in his response to the George Floyd shooting (plus his stand on money for players). But he will still spin his way out of anything.
That’s fine that you don’t cuss and use those phrases instead, but Dabo does cuss. Dabo only says those things in front of the camera, for the brand. I’ve seen him dog cuss coaches on the side line and when reading those lips he isn’t saying good googlia mooglia. I would rather Kirby say HBTFD in a press conference because I know that’s who he is. Dabo says gosh darnit, I love those dang ole Tigers dagnabbit and still dog cusses.
Dabo is nothing more than a TV personality who lives a fake life on camera compared to what he does off camera
Something that has always shocked me about Clemson in general is that their focal point building of Tillman Hall is named after a racist individual
Good point, and I agree with what you are saying here.
After the semifinal game against osu Dabo said he told the guy that made the last interception that he was going to make the game winning interception. There is no way he actually said that, but he does cringey stuff like this all the time. Someone needs to teach him about the woes of the Pharisees as well.
Yep
He's sanctimonious like Hugh Freeze, but hasn't been caught with hookers..yet.
Disagree. I’ve met Dabo on many occasions and had some very cordial conversations with him. He’s exactly the same person off the field as he is in front of cameras. And that’s his problem: he doesn’t try to hide his flaws behind some “for show” media persona. He’s extremely genuine in what he says, even if it’s not politically correct, or even correct at all.
All that to say he’s in some pretty deep water here. He mishandled his response to the George Floyd tragedy; he wants to share his faith in people and in the country and in God, that’s fine, but he missed the point of the Black Lives Matter movement entirely, and what’s truly going on. He also severely mishandled the incident with Pearman. I remember in 2016 there was some unrest amongst the team about halfway through the season, but I never learned what. I half to believe this had something to do with it based on the timeline that was given. Do I think Pearman is a racist and a bad person? No, but right now that’s how he is representing the University. From what I’ve heard, he’s being pressured to resign by the AD, and Dabo really has no choice but to just nod his head and agree. He should’ve disciplined him in 2016, but here we are. Dabo is backed into a corner here, of his own volition, and nothing he does at this point will be right.
Dabo’s not a bad guy nor a fake guy, he’s just too set in his ways and his beliefs to try and pretend to be someone else for camera, or say something that he doesn’t feel. I don’t usually agree with him, but it’s all him.
"I am wiser than this man, for neither of us appears to know anything great and good; but he fancies he knows something, although he knows nothing; whereas I, as I do not know anything, so I do not fancy I do. In this trifling particular, then, I appear to be wiser than he, because I do not fancy I know what I do not know."
Dabo strikes me as someone who thinks that he knows things that he doesn't really know. He has that kind of televangelist bent (which is why Joel Ostarine is a great nickname).
Timing couldn't be worse right now for Dabo, but I imagine that he'll recover.
Winning titles will do that for a coach. See Meyer.
I hate Clemson and I don't even like Dabo, but questioning his faith or authenticity (implying that he's just another Hugh Freeze), or comparing him to Urban Meyer in any way, seems terribly unfair.
I'm not saying he's cultivating criminals, but winning championships will get you out of situations that other coaches might not survive.
