Best Musical Artist from Georgia
Sitting here listening to Shake Your Moneymaker by The Black Crowes and it got me thinking...
who do you think is the best band/musical artist to come out of Georgia?
Otis Redding or Black Crowes is where it's at for me off the top of my head
Whos yours?
if you say Widespread Panic I'm banning you (not really[but maybe])
Comments
The Allman Brothers
Black Crowes & Otis Redding are good choices.
REM is my pick for best band. Honorable mention to Drivin n Cryin & Indigo Girls.
Ray Charles is my pick for best solo artist. Honorable mention to James Brown & Gladys Knight.
Johnny Mercer gets an old-timey songwriter award. He's pretty legendary in the music world.
I imagine there are a number of rappers and country music artists who deserve mention, but I don't know those genres well enough to say which ones.
IDK, but you could pick multiple “bests” across multiple genres. Country, rock, rap, R&B.
Pretty incredible.
LUDAAAAAAAA.
Totally kidding.
Bulldog and Athen's own, Washed Out, at the top of of the list for me.

@BoroDawg that might have been my pick but I'm not sure we get to claim them.
Some really great choices so far. I’d have to go with Otis Redding, but I imagine Outkast would be on the list somewhere.
Without repeats:
Old School: Little Richard
Country: Zac Brown
Rock: B52s
It’s Widespread Panic. If this is the hill I die on so be it
I claim them. They’re buried in Macon and that’s where they recorded their hits.
@BoroDawg I feel the same way, so I will support your claim.
Future easily
what **** downvoted The Allman Brothers?!
I can’t say w-eirdo?
How weird I just saw this on instagram
