How far can UGA’s elite defense carry the slow-starting Dawgs?
Georgia fans worry whether spotty running game is ready for prime time

Another great article Bill, thanks!
Yall kill me. Stop acting like the game is just the 1st half. As long as Bennett doesn't mess up the Dawgs will beat Bama
I disagree that the game was closer than the score. I thought the game was less competitive than the score, and was not worried about losing, even while trailing at halftime.
This game was not competitive. The high snap and two really good passes by JG led to UT points, but Georgia thoroughly dominated.
I like Monken and most of our play calling. I only know one thing, last year I (and I believe most people) could mostly predict which play we were going to run. Even if you didn't know and just said run up the middle, you'd be pretty much on target.
And this year - I have no idea what's coming next in terms of plays.
Do agree that the inability to get a yard on Offense is getting really tough to take - going back to last year.
Bama hasn't missed a beat with their offense with their new starter, We will see if a great defense can beat a great offense next Saturday. Harris is a great runner and everyone knows about Devonte Smith, a future 1st rounder.
It will take winning the turnover battle and getting pressure on the QB. Offense will need to put up 34.
DId anyone see Pickens laughing on the bench after he got talked to by the coaches about the water incident and he was laughing about it like it was no big deal, no shame. The player sitting next to him on the bench looked at him like he had lost his mind..
Not sure Pickens is all there.
Good analysis, Bill. Kirby will never kick 4th and 1 inside the 5 yd line. The Jumbo package should be deleted from the play book now. Very predictable. or at least modify it to create a diversion for an end around or quickie end zone pass. Do not always punch the middle for short yardage...certainly not with small fry Bennett...courting an injury and loss of down. The play mix was good overall, I thought. Monken style play now more evident. Bama will cinch up his safeties for the short pass Bennett throws. Really need someone who can rifle a bomb..like JT. This is Bama now...UGA needs to pull out all the stops. Grind and chop won't work. No messing around Half One...finding yourself UGA. Get it done!!! I know you can and will!
GO DAWGS!!!
McIntosh is on fire. He needs to get the start with Cook , Milton, Zeus and Edwards following, IN THAT ORDER.
Great analysis Bill. You hit the nail with Stetson. He held on to it to long a time or two, one resulting in a sack. 2 weak deep ball throw ups that were not a good choice nor a good throw. However, Stetson played a very solid game. One thing I would like to see him do a couple or 3 times more a game is keep it on the RPO. It’s was getting very predictable that Zamir was going to get it up the middle. Keep them honest and not allow them to crunch down in the box.
The offensive line really struggled with the Vol defense. Our right side was getting man handled up until about the 4th quarter. Zeus is a hard runner but he stutter steps to much indicating that he don’t trust his line or his quick field vision is suspect. Now Milton appears to have really quick field vision. I think he would be better suited for the short yardage conversions. Defense is stout and our offense is in debt to them.
The offensive line has to improve and improve a bunch. Coach Luke has to find the right fit. Not sure who replaced McClendon after he got hurt but there was an obvious change in push over there. Could have been fresh legs, I don’t know.
This defense was built to stop what it is about to see next Saturday night . Im confident that if they do what they have been doing Alabama is in for a reality check. Our O has to show up and just put up points, points when it matters. This is going to be an **** winning team until the O gets their spark. Jackson is coming to play, somebody give Kenny the ball. He looks like the best back in the stable right now. Where's George? Bro you have to stop that foolishness and focus, this is bigger than you. This is going to be a big game, and we don't need excuses. The good thing is this team has been waiting for this game. They are not afraid, go out and put the world on notice and never look back until you are the last team standing. GATA, Go to work!
