imageWeek 8 AP Poll, Coaches Poll Top 25: Georgia football falls in polls during off week

Another week, another slight drop in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll for the Georgia Bulldogs. With the return of the Big Ten, the Bulldogs dropped to the No. 5 spot in both polls, as the Ohio State Buckeyes moved up in each. The Bulldogs were off this week after a 41-24 loss to Alabam in the previous week.

Polls don’t count until the end. Keep chopping wood. I hated to see that young man Waddle go out yesterday, but bama is different without that young man.

lets finish and meet em in the dome!

All of this poll stuff is just noise - especially this early in the season. If we take care of business and win the remaining games on our schedule then we should end up playing Bama again in the SEC Championship. Win that one and we are IN the playoffs. Lose another game and we are OUT. Pretty darn simple. Play whatever kind of game you want Dawgs but just win them all!

    GO DAWGS!!

I like being number five now. Gives us a bit of an incentive. Knocks us off the high horse assuming we were riding it.

At the end of the season, that's what counts.

Sticking THE in the top four was as predictable as a career politician lying when his lips are moving.

    Go, Dawgs!

Let's see, who does Kirby want next? Clemson or Ohio State? Two names: Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields (Georgia boys, but not playing for Georgia). We've got a LONG way to go to play at the level of those teams. And throw ALA IV into the mix if that should happen. Kirby needs to decide if he's a defensive coordinator or a head coach. "We should have run the ball more." Uh, don't you have on a headset? Why're you telling us? And FIVE batted balls and NO adjustment? Wow. Love Stetson's heart, but he needs to be put in a position to succeed, by his coach. And if they do and he's having an "off" day (which happens to everybody), then he needs to come out of the game. Speaking of the experience factor - assume Kirby is aware that JT Daniels played an entire season of major college football at USC when he should have been a H.S. senior. Blue chip all the way. Carson Beck? Huge talent. We do have options, especially when what you're doing's not working. And it starts with the head man.

The ranking is to be expected. Keep in mind that we are the Top 1-loss team and are you really going to say that we are better than Ohio State when Fields went 20-21 with 2 TDs and ran 15 times? The only question mark is the always-overrated Notre Dame, but they have both Clemson and #15 UNC on their plate, so they shouldn't last long.

We will have to see. I'll be disappointed if Bennett starts against Kentucky and Florida, but what happens, happens. We still should take down Kentucky without issue (especially after the week off).

I think we can all agree that Bennett, as easy to root for as he is, is not the guy to lead this team to a championship. I don't know that starting someone else against Kentucky is necessarily, well, necessary. But I do think that it's time to start working someone else in. Whether that should be by naming him (whoever he is) the starter straight up, or gradually increasing his workload over the next 2-3 weeks before taking over for good, who knows.

It's hard to say that it should be this guy or that. We don't know where Mathis' confidence is at, so throwing him in against a Kentucky defense that's given up 27 total points in their last 3 games might not be the way to go. Same could be said for Daniels' recovery and Beck's acclimation to the college game for that matter. We simply don't know. We do know that there are multiple guys who MIGHT be the answer. Let's hope one of them emerges, and quickly.

Give Herbstreit another week or two and he’ll have ohio st above Clemson & Bama.

Every year they hype up Notre Dame and Oklahoma. And every year they get exposed.

It’s so easy to get on Kirby’s case...especially when wearing blinders. Daniels played...”an entire year of major college football at USC...”? That’s debatable in the PAC 12 where defense doesn’t exist. Add to that, it’s been well over a year since he took a meaningful snap and had major knee surgery since taking that snap. Also, he had been passed on the depth chart at the dumpster fire called USC thus the transfer...perhaps he has some work to do to get back to “blue chip” status.

Carson Beck? Huge talent? Maybe as a high school player, especially his junior year. To expect anything other than a RS year from Carson is delusional since he had no spring ball, no summer workouts because the athletic facilities were shut down, and Mathis got the majority of first team snaps in the fall.

When it’s all said and done, we are dang lucky to have Stetson even with his short comings! When and if any of the other QBs give the Dawgs the best chance to win, Kirby will have no problem replacing Bennett. Until that time, we better be praying Stetson stays healthy! In Kirby I trust!

Didn't take long for the divine college rankers to drop UGA to 5th. One good game out of their beloved OSU and down we go...admittedly, that was some game by Justin Fields. Not so good UGA vs Bama. Let us hope this is not a trend.
