This off week only gives Bennett time to get back the starting QB job.

While I'm impressed with Vandagriff's throwing ability I have to keep reminding myself he is doing this against class A private schools. He is facing absolutely "0" pass rush. When he gets to the SEC the difference between a high school 6'0" 220 lb defensive lineman chasing you versus a college 6'4" 260 lb defensive end that can blaze will take some time to adjust. If we don't have spring training then that's going to put him behind the 8-ball. The good news is that his father is a coach and he probably will grasp the offensive schemes pretty quickly. Going thru your progressions will be his biggest obstacle in my opinion. But he's a big strong kid and probably won't be getting balls batted down. I say if he shows promise then we ride with him. He's going to make some mistakes but it would be nice to have a Lawrence type under center for the next 3 years.

All fair points. I believe the fact that Oklahoma was taking this kid tells you all you need to know about his skill and upside. I have no doubt that OU would turn him into a a top 5 NFL pick. Can the Dawgs do it? I hope so, but it remains to be seen.

Lawrence was really the exception for starting Freshman. Tua was a backup all year and didn't get much real playing time till the 2nd half of the NC game against us.

In terms of this: "Even if Vandagriff doesn’t start right away, Georgia still needs him to be the future of the position. And really the entire program. ", I think that's being a little overdramatic. This isn't the NFL.

Vandagriff looks great, but yeah, no reason to show off the running TDs as you won't get that "swiss cheese" to casually run through in Top 25 teams.

It's tough being a fan and NOT seeing what happens in practice and how they adapt and grow and see how they handle pass rushes, heavy coverage, etc. Some of the HS QBs are held back by poor receivers while others may appear to be better than they are.

Either way, I hope he signs and gets a shot. It can be very tough to go from HS graduation to preparing for a Top 5 team in a few months.

Unlike this crazy shortened season, Kirby should get the entire Spring to figure this out...and he'd better with Clemson up first. I think Vandergriff will be enrolling as soon as he's finished with football or Spring at the latest. Either way, he'll certainly be there.

Something to mull over that many of you might not know. Future starter for BAMA Bryce Young played at the same high school in California as JT Daniels, Mater Dei. They have had one of the top programs in HS the past several years. Everyone is high on BY and rightfully so, he looks to be like another Tua. However, JT put up better numbers while he was there than Bryce. JT threw as many TD's (152)in 3 years(Fr-JR) as Bryce did in 4 years with Mater Dei. JT finished HS a year early and started at USC when other HS QB's were padding their senior numbers. JT actually ran better as a JR QB than Bryce did as a senior. He avg. 8.9 yards a carry. Twice as much as Bryce, in roughly the same amount of carries.

JT played against stiffer competition than Brock. Not trying to take anything away from the kid. But as others have mentioned Brock is playing against slow footed white kids. He's a big kid and that make him hard to tackle against the smaller kids, but he's not fleet footed. Think Jake Fromm speed.

I for one think that for some reason JT may fall through the cracks at UGA and we'll be regretting it.

Much has been made of our QB situation, and overall accuracy and long-ball ability/accuracy are important. However, I think our offensive woes will also continue unless we can develop receivers to compliment our QB and running backs. Mac Jones and Kyle Trask owe a measure of their their success to their receivers.

Can UGA develop Vandagriff? That is my question. I believe we have the receiver corps already in place. UGA needs a championship quality QB. A real elite. Brock has what it takes in my opinion. Can UGA utilize him effectively?

Development will be the biggest thing here .. he reminds me of Jacob Eason that wasn’t developed at all and passed over for game management instead of raw talent .. hopefully cks will allow someone of offensive nature take control of the development and offense

I agree to an extend but if the recievers are wide open and the ball goes 5 yards over there head or in the dirt not a whole lot a receiver can do .. Jackson and Pickens are very good receivers anyone qb in the country would love having these two .. we got them and can’t get them the ball
