Alabama and Ohio State will take the field on Monday night for the national championship game. Georgia will obviously not being playing in the game, as the Bulldogs finished their season on Jan. 1 with a win over the Cincinnati Bearcats. The bottom line is that the Georgia Bulldogs have just as much talent on the field as Bama, Ohio State, or Clemson. Kirby's recruiting classes have been as good or better than any of those teams since Smart signed up as head coach. The difference is the coaching, development, and execution. There's where we have fallen behind and continue to lag. All I can say is next season will really put Smart to the test to find out how good he really is or isn't. There are simply no excuses at all for 2021, and Kirby doesn't get another mulligan. Our deck is stacked all over the field.

Kirby is for sure a master recruiter. He now needs to be able to coach up more of his kids and get better at in-game adjustments. He has raised expectations that may be too much to meet, but his recruiting has created a monster to enable.

COACHING, COACHING, COACHING. That’s what Georgia needs. Hands down the most important lesson. With all the talent Georgia has, it’s a matter of coaching. These kids are yearning for a coach to flourish their talent. So far, there has been a lot of hype and projections, but none of that has transferred to success on the field. If anyone needs to learn from the Alaba - Ohio State game is Kirby Smart. You’d figure all those years at Alabama learning from Saban would have given him an edge, but no. There is a big difference from an assistant coach to a head coach. Give Smart one more year to show success, and if not, start the search. Georgia’s motto should be ... “We’re rebuilding.”

A note to coach Smart ... your current performance formed not justify your exorbitant salary. Start earning it!!! You’re not getting paid to recruit, you’re getting paid to win National Championships!!! Coach well or get out.

I would add culture to the list of lessons learned. Herbie talked extensively last night in the 4th Qtr. about how the focus at Bama is on TEAM, not 'me'. Saban instills a culture of Championship football. Everything they do as a program is designed to enhance their chances of winning a national championship from recruiting, S&C, player development and getting guys to return to the program to enhance their draft status and help them to win championships.

The last lesson to be learned is DISCIPLINE. It starts from Kirby and goes from there. Georgia is consistently an undisciplined team. You just don't see Bama commit the number of penalties as Georgia. They don't shoot themselves in the foot nearly as much as the Dawgs. This must improve to win a national championship.
