Kirby Smart on Georgia cornerback battle: 'Every guy on our team is a potential cornerback right now'
It's clear that Georgia has a need at the cornerback position. Following a number of departures after the 2020 season, the Bulldogs have a grand total of zero career starts at the cornerback position on for Georgia. That's why head coach Kirby Smart made reference to the fact that anyone on the Georgia roster could

I'm always amazed at some of the questions presented to CKS. I wish more thought would be made prior to posing a question that YOU KNOW Smart is not going to answer. Journalist: So coach, do you think you are going win the Natty this year? CKS: I would like to thank you for wasting everyone's time with your question.
Folks, this 'crisis' at the secondary position is the most overhyped thing we have going now. Other than maybe Clemson, who is going to REALLY challenge the Dawg's secondary in 2021 during the regular season???
Answer: NO ONE.
Let's worry more about the 'jelling' and play of our OL, protecting the passer, and opening up holes for the RBs than worrying about the secondary. Let's worry more about getting a consistent and disruptive pass rush than the secondary.
We've got plenty of 4 and 5-star talent in the secondary that will have time during the season to hone their skills against average or less than average opponents before we should be playing in the SEC Championship game.
I think you Sportswriters are simply devoid of topics and want to beat this overrun topic to death. GOOD GRIEF.
The whole NCAAFB FBS is looking for CB's. Why? Because there is such a demand for quality WR's they are converting CB's to WR's so now there is a void for CB's. They are willing to convert anyone possibly that can be converted to CB.
If you are a top power five school with top-five recruiting classes, you should not look to get help or find talent in the transfer portal regardless of needs. A top-five recruiting class, each of Kirby's years at Georgia says he has talent. He and his coaching staff need to develop that talent. They cannot, which why they are looking for help. The top recruiting classes are a false positive of talent if that is the case. Those who are ranking these classes are getting it wrong as well. I say play with what you have, so those kids can get better instead of bumped on the depth chart from someone outside the program. Try keeping your talent, instead of them transferring out of the program or declaring early for the draft. That is why Kirby cannot get over the top. He cannot keep the talent from those recruiting classes. The year he went to the championship is because the talent from Richt recruiting classes stayed and finish the drill
