As Dell McGee continues to thrive at Georgia, he awaits a head coaching opportunity
Georgia running backs coach Dell McGee is back at Georgia for another season. That makes the Bulldogs a better program. Yet McGee also spoke this week about his desire to become a head coach.

we won't be able to keep Dell much longer. Easily one of the best recruiters AND RBs coach in America.
Sometimes the grass is greener until it you actually start walking on it.
We're lucky to have coach McGee. I've always liked the guy. I'd hate to see him go, but I think he'd make a fine head coach.
Best of luck coach!
Dell is a studied coach, he knows his position training at UGA better than just about anyone before him has. UGA would have a tough time replacing him, but that is college football and life for that matter....to better oneself. Be patient Dell, your time will come. Meanwhile keep UGA...RBU.
Del McGee is AWESOME, but he needs the right fit to move on. I am sure he will not jeopardize is reputation jus to take any HC job!
I love Coach McGee and what he has done for our beloved University. I hope the right opportunity comes along for him but also hope we fight tooth and nail to keep him. If you believe you have the best, pay the man a ridiculous amount of money to stay! Lastly, I hope in my lifetime a person's race is not discussed when talking about him or his opportunities. We are all made in God's image.
IMO, Mcgee is just getting to the stage of his career to be a serious contender for head coaching jobs. It was not long ago he was coaching high school. Auburn gave him an off the field position, Kirby gave him his first big opportunity. And he has done fantastic. I knew he would, me coming from Columbus also and knowing a lot about him, his personality, his integrity, his love for the kids and his coaching ability and success. So now, he has several years of on the field SEC coaching experience. I say win the Natty in the next year or two and then he becomes a head coach. Just kidding, he will get his chancd either way. But it would be great to win it with him. I will say this, he has been under-acknowledged and talked about. He has not been referred to, talked about by the journalists much either. Not many articles written about him at ALL. Not just the NFL and Universities have to step up, journalists too. So kudos to Conner for being a leader in that. Be fair. Write about ALL the coaches. Not just because of any differences, but just because they are a coach. Mcgee is low key in public and doesn't draw any attention. But he gets his job done and he cares about the kids deeply and he is a sincere man of faith. His time is coming. But hopefully we win it all with him BEFORE HE MOVES ON. THAT WOULD BE PERFECT...
It is pretty difficult to go from position coach to head coach. Running back coaches are usually hired because they can recruit. Maybe he will get an opportunity to become an offensive coordinator, which is a much easier route for him.
