@GaDawgNTexas I very much think Chaney was running the offense Kirby wanted and felt comfortable with, so I put this on Kirby. He was vintage 2012 Bama. Unfortunately college football was going in a different direction. I have no idea how well Chaney could have executed a vertical passing offense.

@reddawg1 unless UGA wins the NC I don’t think a good power5 HC job is in Monken’s future. I do think he will be offered other OC positions but as with Kirby why take a lateral.

As far as receivers go something is happening at Bama that not a lot of people have picked up on. They are recruiting speed at the wide receiver position. Speed seems to have moved up in the order of position requirement traits. The transfer from OSU was a surprise and the only thing special about him was his speed. I am not sure where Saban is going with this but hopefully it is not something that is going to put him ahead of everyone else in the SEC.

You can coach a receiver to do a lot of things, read coverages, make cuts, run routes smoothly, increase their hand strength, etc. The one thing you normally cannot coach up is speed.

JT shined last year against low talent teams. Now in the bowl game. Yes they won but didn’t have great numbers or success. I’m not sold on the NC hype but believe with breaks going our way it could be a great season
