I am not in favor of breaking traditional rivalries relevant or not. For sure this is all about $$$$ and also maybe stage-1 of something bigger for college football. The SEC should go to a 9 game conference schedule anyway. We are already in the toughest conference in college football and this would make recruiting and getting to the playoffs harder. The playoffs should expand to 16 teams not 12 at that point😎.

We can stop this as the alumni and folks that buy the tickets can stop this in its tracks.

Most of us on this site are huge football fans and we are focused on the impact of Texas and Oklahoma on our conference football programs and alignments. I haven’t noticed anyone addressing the impact on all other sports. Texas just won the “Director’s Cup” for 2020-21 making them the most successful college athletic program this past year. They unseated (with a Covid assist) Stanford who had won the award every year for over 2 decades. UGA was #10 this year while the only athletic program in the SEC better than Texas over the past 5 years is Florida. We will certainly feel the impact of this merger in many sports including: baseball, basketball, swimming, etc. Go Dawgs!!!

Not sure this is the case... Wouldn't the individual universities welcome less season ticket holders in exchange for tickets sales for higher prices to leisurely fans... I mean sure they are giving up some additional/predictable income; but alot of season ticket holders pay less than their tickets would be worth on this type of schedule, don't they? In addition to this the added TV revenue split would have to be substantial. Maybe I'm wrong/naive; but just another perspective. Seems money always talks and the little guy gets shi!+ on.

Whatever realignment does, Kirby should INSIST that the Dawgs get their stolen home game back from Auburn.
