Agree Mike with your assessments
I watched the game with my usual vast trepidation (raised on Larry Munson, Vince Dooley and survived the 1990s...
Just after the game ended, I got a text from a guy I haven't seen in 4-5 years (since we retired). He is a Clemmons grad. He congratulated me and said that the game reminded him of the 1980s games. I had that thought myself as the game ended. Lawsy. I still haven't calmed down.
I like how in the video of Walker's sack, you can see the LT throwing up his hands before the play is even over. Like, aw man again? Haha.
It's Mike's column so he can obviously say what he wants, but I just can't see how JT Daniels' stock could be up right now. Maybe it's even, but certainly he did nothing to convince anyone that he's a better player now than he was last year. On the other hand, I think he's being too hard on Shaffer. People talk as if veteran players NEVER make mistakes. Veteran OL will get a holding call or two during the year and they might even have a false start, although all false starts are not the fault of the lineman. And there was NO WAY to know that Shaffer's holding call would be on the same play that Clemson also got flagged for PI in the end zone. Stuff like that happens, which is why CKS doesn't harp on it -- unless it becomes a pattern. Tom Brady will throw an interception this year and he'll say he shouldn't have thrown the pass. Odell Beckhan (or any elite receiver) will have a drop or two. A top DL will jump offsides. That's just football. Shaffer may indeed lose his starting job but if so, it won't just be because he got a holding penalty and a false start penalty. If so, we're going to be changing the starting lineup every week. Go Dawgs!
