Georgia defensive player of the year candidate Jordan Davis takes giant step toward iconic stature
ATHENS — Georgia senior Jordan Davis enjoyed a magical homecoming Saturday night, spearheading a Bulldogs’ defense that smothered Clemson on the national stage.

Davis had a great game against Clemson and he continues to get even better.
Kirby and his staff deserve a lot of credit for developing J D to **** a high level.
I love stories like this. Jordan is everything a young man should be - smart, articulate, humble, and passionate about the game he loves. He is living proof that stars do not always matter, for his star shall shine for years to come. He is the epitome of a DGD.
Keep working young man. 14 more games to go and you will meet your goal.
JD is making a lot of money for himself by developing for another season at the college level. Good lesson for most college players. The difference between Bama and UGA? Bama players come back to become higher draft choices. UGA guys leave early and become lower draft choices.
JD has gotten better and better each and every year glad he came back this year. Record breaking 2021 Junkyard Dawgz Beasts. The defense is stout the backups are hungry and tenacious. If we average 7 sacks a game, or not with pressure the picks will come. 😎
JD should win the Bronko Nagurski trophy. There are few, if any, with the faith to move this mountain of a man. His coming back actually kept UGA a contender for a championship. IMO. His value is uncontested.
Plus, by all accounts, he’s just a really good guy. Go Dawgs!
Speaking of oil painting moments, the picture above of him about to pounce on Uiagalelei is also a good one from that game! Nice to see his hard work being recognized and that he came back for what turned out to be a special homecoming in Charlotte.
Speaking of Dean, this was my favorite tweet among many great ones from the Clemson game...
Go Dawgs!
@UGADad20 one of the things I try to do is listen to media appearances of the top SEC coaches. I find it interesting in what they say. In the case of Saban he seems to use these appearances not to talk to the media but to talk to his team. One would also have to assume much of what he is saying they have heard. One of the newer points he has been making for more than the past 12 months is about creating value. He talks about why this is important, how players do this, and what it takes to accomplish this. What we are seeing is JD doing this. He still has a lot of work to do to build both his endurance and stamina to increase his value but he very much headed in the right direction.
I am sure Kirby is probably doing this to but we don’t hear a lot about it in such simple terms. I think the way Saban approaches this has an impact on who returns and who leaves early.
Hopefully the results of JD’s decision will turn out well for him and it will influence other players to create their own value.
