Soler with a lead off 460 foot homer! Braves starting quick! Ian Anderson 1-2-3 in the first
0
4 in a row and they are playing at a high level!
Will "I don't believe in clean innings" Smith had his first one in a seemingly very long time.....and at just the right time. He may be key going down the playoff road. Fingers crossed. For now, I plan to feel good about what they have accomplished. To lose a team's top pitcher and top hitter for the season was quite a hurdle to clear. Great job!
Do you guys think they get swept by the Brewers or do they manage to win at least one game?
They win in 5
Braves went 3-3 versus the Brewers in the regular season. My biggest hesitancy with the Braves every year entering the playoffs is pitching. The best teams generally have 2 elite guys. Braves have Morton and Fried pitching well, but not sure what happens against the best of the best in the playoffs. Not to mention the bullpen scares.
The bullpen worries me, but, then, I am a worry wart. The pen seems so "iffy" from day to day and from pitcher to pitcher. Could be a heck of a series.
The bullpen is the fear. Luke Jackson is the one or trust most. Can't believe I'm saying that after how I felt last year.
the good news is that we have won 10 out of the last 11!
Two of those wins were against San Diego and were Bullpen started/completed games.
I actually pity Milwaukee, I really do.
Sure they have pitching but they have nowhere near the hitters we have.
Also, their best set up man, pulled an Ynoa and broke his hand punching a wall. ON THE NIGHT they
clinched! Braves in five!
Jackson has been excellent all season, but he's not a closer. Will Smith has 37 saves and he's had a 1.50 era over 12 appearances in Sep.
Jackson has a 1.46 era over 13 appearances in Sep, Minter has a 2.86 era over 11 Sep. appearances and Matzek hasn't given up a run over his last 9 appearances, a single bad outting 10 appearances back drove up his Sep. era.
Toussaint and a couple of other swing pitchers can give us long relief when needed, I like where the staff is right now.
When you break down The Dodgers and Giants staffs, they will likely be tough to beat, but The Braves' staff has a chance to stand with them over a given series.
I agree with @TNDawg71. I think we find a way to win this series. Devin Williams was a big loss for them. After that, I think we have almost no chance to advance.
Well they are notorious for losing in the first round…
Braves in 5, after that, our bullpen would need to be stellar to be able to contend!
Never Say, Never!
Last year they did not. And I’m quite proud of our 21 division titles.
Are you equally proud of the one World Series with an asterisk?
Happy for the Atlanta Braves. Being an Atlanta fan is TOUGH. All year long dealing with the challenges that happen when I cheer for the Falcons, Hawks, or the Braves. Then there is my first love in all sports - the Georgia Bulldogs football!!! This DawgNation forum has been such a blessing! I sincerely hope now that the Atlanta Braves can have a lot of success during this 2021 post-season. We will see. GO BRAVES!!!
What’s the asterisk?
Strike shortened season.
18 games short of a 162 game season is an asterisk? 144 games plus playoffs isn’t a worthy champion?
