Georgia football Great Eric Zeier elaborates on Stetson Bennett’s growth, JT Daniels’ recovery
ATHENS — Georgia football legend Eric Zeier ranks among the greatest quarterbacks in SEC history, once holding the title of “All-Time Leading Passer” in the league.
Comments
Agree 100% with Zeier.
The 'gunslinger mentality' of Stetson needs improvement... otherwise, he's a very good QB. We'll need JT by the time we play the Gators, but before that Stetson should do the trick.
Stets telegraphs a bit too. If you go back over the games on video..you will see that tendency. His deep throws JT has helped him with and he has improved. His gunslinger or as I refer to them...thread the needle throws, he arches back and heaves...hoping the WR talent is there at the other end. I am sure JT has brought this to his attention. Under tight pressure, he should eat the ball or throw it out of bounds...on occasion. No picks. That said, Stets can handle pretty much the rest of the schedule if need be. He has been receiving solid aid from a much improved OL! Keep it up.
I expect a better than two touchdown win for UGA.
Am I the only one who has noticed Bennett seems to lose steam after a few possessions ?
I don't see him being overly aggressive, if anything he seems to be overly conservative after the first quarter of games. That could be coaching decisions though. If he gets anymore conservative he'll stop passing altogether. The guy has 1 td and 98 yards total in second halves this season.
As long as Stet doesn't throw it to the other team, the Dawgs should be just fine.
This is Way off topic but couldn’t post on the other thread: With all the terrible stress in this country many millions of people including me just want to watch some college football on the weekend and relax. You know a short reprieve from the daily realities of life these days. So I just want to thank Tegna and DishNetwork for bickering and fighting and clawing for every single buck they can get Of Course at the cost of the consumer and picking the weekend to decide to have their fight thus Shutting Down the ability to view the game on TV. As a service connected disabled veteran and having a myriad of health problems, including Leukemia. I just want to thank Both entities. What great Americans you truly are !! I’m sure the shareholders on Both sides will starve to death off the billions and billions of $$$ their companies are making. Just want to thank them for the sacrifice of only having 10 multi million $$ homes and 100 multi hundred thousand $$ cars this year instead of the usual. I’m so very sorry that we consumers out here paying exorbitant prices for your goods and services are such a burden to you. So again Thanks Allot. It’s all OK it’s very stress free to have to scramble around at the last minute on a Very tight budget to try to find an opportunity to watch the game. But oops I’m sorry I’m intruding on your time flying in your cooperate jet to one of your many homes. I’m so sorry by all means please enjoy YOUR weekend. I hope it’s as nice as you’ve made mine. 😡
Good article. I agree with EZ. I think his comments are like his passes were back when he played, spot on !! Stets just needs to do those things he does best and stay away from the idea that the entire game rests on his shoulders so he feels he’s just Got to Make It happen. No just let our Defense smother Their fire, let our O line make holes for the host of very talented RBs we are so blessed to have, make the Good throws that you Can make to keep their D honest and go home to Athens with a W !! There’s no need for desperation throws unless we’re down pretty bad and not much time left on the clock. By the way I think the majority of Dawg Nation respects Bennett. Maybe that’s part of the Why he makes those scary and bad throws, maybe in his mind he still thinks he has to Prove himself. No. Be yourself Stets. Play Your game and be You, and all will be just fine. I think I can safely speak for numerous Dawgs fans when I say we appreciate all your hard work to contribute to this teams success. It doesn’t go by unnoticed. But as ole Clint Eastwood said in one of his movies and sometimes we don’t like it but it’s true: “ A man’s gotta know his limitations”. You don’t have to be any other QB just play within Your game and your teammates will support you and get the W.
WE BETTER HAVE JT 100% HEALTHY AND SHARP.! Yeah and Stetson threw one of those "Ugh" passes last week and I noticed afterwards he did not get ANOTHER chance to throw anything but super safe passes. Had Stetson been allowed to keep passing, there would have been NO SHUTOUT. I DO NOT THINK Stetson is keeping better care of the ball, I think the coaches are keeping him on as SHORT OF A LEASH AS POSSIBLE. Heck that "Ugh" pass last week hit the defender in the chest and bounced off it. Should have been an EASY pick. After that his leash was being yanked hard and tight the rest of the game! I know this, come Florida game and the SEC Championship, WE BETTER HAVE JT 100% HEALTHY AND SHARP.
